Static ignition engines without high voltage cables
Start the engine and place the cable connector (1) close to the coil to be examined
(see chapter 2.8).
During measurement, do not touch the conductive part of the male connector you're
your fingers in order not to cause noise.
•
Select SCOPE from the INSTRUMENT SELECTION page and then select
BOBINE TEST.
Il display shows the following page.
In this page you can see the power and polarity of the issued signal.
If an engine has more than one coil, the captured signals can be compared to see
whether one of the coils has problems.
In some cases, the signal of the coils without high voltage cable can be displayed even
in the oscilloscope mode:
•
Place the probe (1) close to the coil (see Fig. 1).
•
Select BOBINE TEST and determine the signal polarity (positive or negative).
•
Select COIL POSITIVE SECONDARY or COIL NEGATIVE SECONDARY in
relation to polarity.
•
Lower the synchronism level at about 0.5-1 KV.
