6.2.7 Sharpening the chain (15)

ATTENTION!
Put safety gloves on.
ATTENTION!
Follow the manufacturer‟s instruction for the chain (15) sharpening and maintenance operations. Decreasing the
height of the depth adjusting device could mean increasing the kickback risk.
ATTENTION!
Each 3 or 4 chain (15) sharpening operations check and, if necessary, file the depth adjusting device by means of a
flat file, then round its upper point.
The distance between the chain teeth is ¼". Therefore, use a file with a 4 mm diameter and a flat one.
Always sharpen the file from the inner part of the cutting side towards the outer part, keeping a 35° inclination.
After the sharpening operation, all the teeth must have the same size (length and width).

Put the depth calliper in stable position on the drive chain (15), so that the depth marker protrudes. File its protruding part till it
reaches the same level as the depth calliper. Round the front angle of the depth marker off.
