2.6 NOISE LEVEL

The measured noise level values are emission levels and
do not necessarily reflect a safe working level. Factors
influencing the real noise exposure level experienced by
the operator include the exposure duration, characteris-
tics of the location, other sources of emission, such as the
number of machines installed, etc.
The noise from this machine has been measured accor-
ding to regulation UNE-EN ISO3746 (1996). Noise measu-
rements were taken during the trimming and end cutting
process, with a 3 mm edge. The noise level at the work

3. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Read this instruction manual carefully be-
fore start-up, use or maintenance opera-
tions, or any other operation performed on
the edgebander.

3.1 USING THE MACHINE

• The machine operator must meet all the requirements
established for using a machine tool.
• It is forbidden to use the edgebander while under the
influence of alcoholic beverages, drugs or medications.
• It is mandatory for all operators to be adequately tra-
ined in the use, control and operation of the edgeban-
der.
• Operators must read the manual carefully, paying close
attention to the notes and safety warnings. They must
also be informed of the dangers associated with the use
of the edgebander and the precautions that must be
taken, as well as trained in the performance of periodic
inspections of the protective and safety devices.
• It is extremely important to place two appropriate pa-
dlocks on the main switch and the air intake safety valve.
A qualified, authorised operator is responsible for kee-
ping the keys.
• Before performing any adjustments, repair or cle-
aning, eliminate all voltage from the machine by placing
the main switch in the O position and then locking it.
Likewise, you should activate the safety valve, turning it
90º and then locking it with a padlock.
• Always keep the work area around the machine clean
and free of obstructions, in order to have the fastest pos-
sible access to the control panel.
• Do not use materials other than those for which the
machine has been designed.

station may exceed 85 dB(A). In this case, the machine
operator should take protective measures against noise.
Other factors that reduce noise exposure are:
• Selecting the correct tool.
• Adequate tool and machine maintenance.
• The use of appropriate hearing protection systems.
Weighted equivalent continuous acoustic pressure level:
75 dB(A)
• Do not work with parts smaller or larger than the
machine's capacity.
• The material used must be free of metal components.
• Use the adjustable support when working with large-
sized parts.
• Do not place your hands between moving parts and the
material.
• Keep hands away from the cutting tools.
• Tools must be stored in an organised manner, away
from unauthorised personnel.
• Do not use tools that are in poor condition, warped or
poorly sharpened.
• The tool support surface must be perfectly clean, flat
and free of dents.
• Wear protective gloves to handle all tools.
• Be careful when mounting the bits. Each one must be
mounted in its correct operating direction.
• Do not start the machine until all protective devices
are in place.
• Do not use the machine without a dust collector.
•Connect the dust collector connection to the Virutex
AS382L dust collector, or to an appropriate disposal ins-
tallation for the edgebander. The dust collection system
must be started at the same time as the machine.
• Adequately ventilate the work environment. Do not in-
hale glue vapours or fumes.
