Use an ecological tungsten electrode as specified in the table below:

In most cases, we recommend an electrode with a small diameter to ensure a con-
centrated arc and therefore minimum welding pool. As shown the diagram below,
the electrode must always be ground correctly. When the electrode is pointed cor-
rectly the arc is stable and concentrated; if not, arc wandering can occur.
The following table illustrates the exact angling required in the welding phase:

The electrode can protrude by 4-5 mm from the edge of the ceramic cup on the
torch, with a Argon shielding gas flow rate of 4-8 litres/min.
WARNING
Take care when working outdoors. Ensure protection against gusts of wind
which could alter the Argon gas flow and lead to the formation of oxide inside
the weld and the electrode.

LIFT TIG PROCEDURE

In this position the TIG welding process
with lift mode ignition can be selected, as
described previously.
To ignite the arc, when TIG welding,proceed
as fo lows: Touch the welding piece with the
electrode; this will cause a shortcircuit
between the piece (2) and the electrode (1).
Lift off the electrode;
the arc will ignite. The integrity of the elec-
trode tip is guaranteed by the low ignition
current during short-circuiting between the
welding piece and the electrode ignition is
guaranteed even at minimum welding cur-
rent settings; the operator can therefore
work without contaminating the ambient
with electromagnetic disturbance, normally
caused by high frequency discharges.
The advantages can be this summarised:
a.
l no need for high-frequency star-
tups;
b.
l no damage to the electrode tip during start-ups, regardless of ampere set-
ting, thereby avoiding the presence of tungsten in the welding piece, com-
mon during scratch starting

7.0 WELDING PARAMETERS
The TIG welding technique, as with all other welding processes, is acquired
through practical experience. A number of recommendations for welding parame-
ter selection are listed below.

8.0 MAINTENANCE

Disconnect power before maintenance.
Service more often during severe conditions.
Every three (3) months, perform the operations below:
a.
Replace unreadable labels.
b.
Clean and tighten weld teminals.
c.
Replace damaged gas hose.
