We care about you and your child's safety. Therefore, we
strongly recommend reading the following instructions
and warnings carefully before installing the seat.
Visual instructions on how and where to mount, and how
to use the seat and relevant accessories can be found in
the corresponding chapter and number on pages 3 - 7.
B - Instructions for mounting
1. Raise the footrest. Unscrew the bolts of the footrest
and separate all parts.
2. Make sure to use footguards with the footrest. When
assembling the Urban Iki footguards, go to step
3. If you already have footguards and only want to
assemble the footrest, go to step 4.
3. Clamp the footrest into the footguard in the desired
position (A). The footguard is best mounted in position
1, so that there is no gap at the top (A). If this does not
fit, mount it in position 2 so that there is more space
(B).
4. Place the metal clamp with the friction buffer over the
frame tube (A). Place the nut in the clamp (B). Put the
footrest over the clamp (C). Insert and tighten the bolts
(D) after adjusting the footrest to the right height.
5. Loosen the screws of the mounting system (A) and
put it on the carrier (B). The axle of the rear wheel
should fall within the arrows of the mounting system
(C). Tighten the screws of the mounting system with
maximal 5 Nm of torque (D).
6. While holding the additional retention system (A)
place the seat flat, halfway on the mounting system
(B). While pushing down, slide the seat to the front (C)
until the seat clicks into the mounting system (D).
Note that the seat can be mounted while locked.
Check that the seat is correctly installed by pushing
the back of the seat (E).
7. To use the backrest, pull it up (A) until it clicks. Make
sure that the key is not in the lock (B). Check that the
backrest is not blocked by the saddle (C).
8. Put the straps of the additional retention system
around the bike frame (A). Put the strap through the
belt adjuster (B) and secure the loose end with the
clip (C). Check that the belt adjuster is free from the
frame (D).
9. To demount the seat: Remove the additional retention
system (A & B). Use the key to open the lock (C). Push
the safety clip down (D) and pull the fix backward (E)
while holding the safety lock down (E). Take the seat
off the carrier (F). Use the key to lock the seat and
remove the key (G).
The seat should be installed as close to the saddle as
●
possible.
The seat cannot be attached to the seat-post unless
●
allowed by the manufacturer of the bike.
Make sure to regularly check that the seat and the
●
relevant fasteners are fully tightened and secured.
The seat should only be fitted to a suitable bike, which
●
means that the bike is appropriate for the mounting
of the specific bike seat. We advise you to check
any information supplied with the bike and (where
applicable) the luggage carrier. If it is not available, you
8
should seek advice from the manufacturer or supplier.
The seat is not suitable for use on a moped.
Check that all parts of the bike function correctly with
●
the seat mounted.
C - Instructions for use
1. Open the saddle on the back of the seat (A). Take the
safety belt out from beneath the saddle (B) and then
replace the saddle (C). After placing your child in the
seat, close the safety belt (D)
2. Fasten the safety belt firmly but not too tightly; pull
the belt adjuster up (A) and pull on the loose belt end
(B).
3. To loosen the restraining system, pull the belt adjuster
up (A) and pull back (B).
4. Make sure that the safety belt is not hanging loosely
next to moving parts, especially when the safety belt is
not in use (A). Clamp the safety belt at the front of the
child seat using the backrest (B). Or store it under the
saddle (C).
5. Check that your child's legs are at a perpendicular
angle (A). If not (B), adjust the footrest to the required
height.
Check whether you are legally permitted to use the
●
seat in the country in which you intend to use it.
Your bike seat is intended for taking your child with
●
you on your bike in an everyday setting. The seat is not
suitable for sporting activities such as mountain biking
or racing.
The seat must not be used with speeds above 25km/h.
●
If you are using a rear seat that is attached to a
●
luggage carrier, make sure that the load capacity
of the carrier is not exceeded. The seat should only
be fitted to luggage carriers that conform to EN ISO
11243:2016.
Do not carry a child that is too young to sit safely in
●
the seat. The seat is approved for children from 5 to 10
years of age, with a maximum weight of 35 kg or the
maximum load of the carrier.
Only carry children that can sit unaided for an
●
extended period of time, and at least for as long as the
intended bicycle journey. Regardless of age, your child
must be able to hold their head up.
Once you have installed the seat for the first time,
●
make sure to take a brief test ride without and with
your child in a safe and quiet environment.
Check that the bike seat is not too hot in the sun
●
during nice weather before putting your child in the
seat.
Always carefully check the stability/balance when
●
placing your child into the seat on your bike.
Make sure that it is not possible for any part of your
●
child's body or clothing to come into contact with any
moving part of the seat or bike such as the wheels,
brake mechanisms, or sprung saddles. Check this
regularly as your child grows.
We advise the use of the restraint system, ensuring
●
that the child is restrained in the seat.
We advise the use of the backrest to ensure a stable
●
seating position.
