Safety instructions
3.1 Device-related
The HF device and the instruments may only be used by trained medical
professionals. The surgeon and the medical professionals must be trained
in, and hence be familiar with, the fundamental principles, codes of practice
and risks of argon-assisted HF surgery.
Report any incidents or near accidents to your country's regulatory agency for
medical devices. In this regard, follow your own facility's internal reporting system.
Notify your local BOWA specialist retailer in such cases.
As part of your responsibility for the sterility of the instruments used, please
note the following:
Clean and sterilise the argon handle and the associated electrode
before each use.
Only use cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation methods that have been
validated for the specific devices and products concerned.
Comply with the validated parameters for each cycle.
Follow the applicable legal regulations in your country and the hygiene
regulations of the hospital.
Do not carry out gas sterilisation and hot air sterilisation, they can
damage the product.
Check the product for damage after reprocessing and before use
CAUTION:
A visual inspection alone is not sufficient to ensure the integrity of the
insulation.
To prevent burns (thermal overload), please comply with the following:
Make sure that all electrical plug connections are correctly connected.
Do not stress the products beyond their mechanical limits (e.g. by
excessive bending, buckling or crushing).
The lowest maximum voltage of the connection cable or the argon
electrode must not be exceeded.
High HF voltages are required for gas ionisation:
Make sure that the electrical insulation of cables and applicators is
intact.
Comply with the instructions for use of the specific HF device and the
associated argon electrode as well as the general instructions for
electrosurgical procedures!
In order to prevent any risk of injuries and electric shocks to the patient and the
operating personnel, make sure that the power supply is switched off before you
connect or remove the HF connection cable and accessories to or from the
electrosurgical device.
To disconnect the HF cable, grasp it by its plug and never pull directly on
the HF cable itself.
The "BF"/"CF" applied part of the HF device is extended by the instrument
connected to it.
