Dial gauge: Ø 57 mm, measuring range 0-1.5 kg/cm² (0-1.47 bar) 0-23 PSI
Pressure hose: 1.9 metre, with quick coupling, covered with stainless steel braid
Lambda probe adapter: M12x1.25 & M18x1.5 external thread
Exhaust gas recirculation adapter: M18x1.5 internal thread, flange 37x63 mm, hole spacing 36-45 mm
INTRODUCTION
Excessive exhaust back pressure is problematic and is associated with several hazards.
The temperature in the turbocharger can increase resulting in increased thermal load and there is a
risk of oil coking in the bearing. Increased exhaust back pressure also causes an axial thrust to the
turbine shaft and higher bearing wear; all of these problems can cause the total failure of the
turbocharger. The exhaust back pressure should be checked regularly to prevent any of these
problems occurring.
INTENDED USE
This test device is used to measure counter-pressure on exhaust systems enabling conclusions to be
drawn regarding any clogging or constrictions.
For testing, the pressure hose is connected via the threaded adapter to the mating thread or via the
exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve adapter to the exhaust system.
The exhaust back pressure is clearly displayed on the colour-coded scale in kg/cm² & PSI.
