Analog Slave Cable
For use with compatible Edwards monitoring systems
Description
The Edwards Lifesciences Analog Slave Cable is used to transfer monitoring
output from patient monitors to the analog input ports of compatible Edwards
monitoring systems. The cable has instrument specific connectors. Refer to the
Edwards Monitor Operator's Manual for the instrument's technical
specifications.
Important: The accuracy of slaved measurements depends upon the quality
and accuracy of the data transmitted from the bedside monitor. Since the
analog signal quality from the bedside monitor cannot be validated by the
Edwards Monitor, actual values displayed by the Edwards Monitor may not be
consistent. The accuracy of continuous measurement, therefore, cannot be
guaranteed. To aid in determining the quality of the analog signals, regularly
compare the values displayed on the bedside monitor to the values displayed on
the Edwards Monitor. Refer to the manufacturer's operator's manual for
detailed information regarding accuracy, calibration, and other variables which
may impact the analog output signal from the bedside monitor.
Instructions for Use
1. Insert the patient monitor connector per cable labeling.
2. Insert the connector labeled "Edwards Analog" into the desired analog
input channel located on the rear panel of the Edwards Monitor. Note: The
analog input ports have a nominal input impedance of 100 k .
3. For detailed operating instructions, refer to the respective computer/
monitor operations manual.
Cleaning
Clean the slave cable by wiping it with a cleaning solution such as isopropyl
alcohol.

Warnings
• Do not sterilize or immerse the slave cable in cleaning or
disinfecting solutions or water.
• Do not use a damaged cable or one with exposed electrical
contacts.
• Failure to properly connect the connectors will result in
intermittent readings or no readings.
• The analog and digital communication ports of the Edwards
Monitor share a common ground that is isolated from the catheter
electronic components. When connecting multiple devices to the
Edwards Monitor, all devices should be provided with isolated
power to avoid compromising the electrical isolation of any of the
connected devices.
