"CONTAIN" YOUR WATER GARDEN
By now you should have your location and style of water garden
determined. You are ready to begin creating your water garden basin.
CREATE THE SHAPE
Within your Sunterra Water Garden Kit is a rope to help you determine
an accurate pond basin size and shape. The rope length is designed for
the enclosed liner size and an 18" deep pond basin. Lay the rope out in
the desired shape and adjust to fit your location. The rope can be your
excavating guide in the next step, Create the Pond Basin. Please note: Ledge
shelf is included inside this space. Measure approximately six inches inside the
rope. That is where to spray the line.
Tips:
01. Spray paint or chalk can be applied where your rope lies to mark your
desired shape and guide your excavating.
02. Now is a good time to lay your liner out flat in the sun.The warm sun will
make your liner more pliable and easier to adjust when you place it in your
water garden basin.Typically it is best to do this 1–2 hours before you are
ready to line your pond basin. Note: leaving your pond liner in one area over
an extended period of time will damage the lawn underneath it.
Notes:
01. An 18" deep water garden is less susceptible to completely freezing during
cold weather in most geographic regions. Shallower depths are more susceptible
to freezing during cold weather in most geographic regions.
02. If you prefer a deeper water garden you will need to reduce the width
and/or length dimensions to accommodate the enclosed liner size. If you
prefer a wider or longer water garden you will need to plan for a shallower
depth. You can use the following formula to determine your new water
garden size and depth:
Maximum liner width = maximum water garden width + twice
the water garden depth + twice the 6-inch liner border.
Example: 18" deep–subtract 4' from each liner dimension to get finished
pond dimensions.
Example: 24" deep–subtract 5' from each liner dimension to get finished
pond dimensions.
Example: 36" deep–subtract 7' from each liner dimension to get finished
pond dimensions.
