Sanding Accessories Assembly
Backing Pad
Before attaching a backing
pad be sure its maximum
safe operating speed is not exceeded by the
nameplate speed of the tool.
Wheel guard may not be
used for most sanding op-
erations. Always reinstall wheel guard when
converting back to grinding operations.
Do
Clamping Nut with backing
pad for sanding accessories.
To Install Backing Pad and Sanding
Disc (Not Included)
(Fig. 1, Fig. 2, Fig. 9)
Disconnect the Battery Pack 5 from the tool.
Attach the Hand Shield 7. Set the tool on its top
side (Spindle 18 up). Place the Rubber Backing
Pad 25 onto the Spindle 18 shaft. Center the
Sanding Disc 26 on top of the Backing Pad 25.
Insert the Backing Pad Lock Nut 27 through the
Sanding Disc 26, and thread it onto the Spindle
18 as far as you can with your fingers. Press
in the Spindle Lock 1, then tighten the Back-
ing Pad Lock Nut 27 securely with a lock nut
wrench.
TO REMOVE: Reverse the procedure.
Wire Cup Brush Assembly
(Fig. 1, Fig. 2, Fig. 9)
Disconnect the Battery Pack 5 from the tool.
Attach the Hand Shield 7. Wire Cup Brushes
28 are equipped with their own threaded hub.
Simply thread the Wire Cup Brush 28 onto the
Spindle 18. Be sure to seat the Brush 28 against
the shoulder before turning the tool "ON."
TO REMOVE: Reverse procedure.
Wire Wheel Assembly
(Fig. 1, Fig. 2, Fig. 10)
Disconnect the Battery Pack 5 from the tool.
Install the Type B (27) Wheel Guard 9. Wire
Wheels 29 are equipped with their own thread-
ed hub. Simply thread the Wire Wheel 29 onto

29 against shoulder before turning tool "ON."
