6 - MOTOR
6.3 Maintenance
6.3.1 Air filter
If motor power output notably drops, verify if the air filter (28) is clogged or damaged. Replace it if necessary. Before reinstalling,
remove any dirt inside the cover and around the filter.
6.3.2 Fuel filter
Check the condition of fuel filter (36) on a regular basis. A dirty filter is the cause of difficult start up and notably compromises motor
performance. To clean the filter, take it out of the fuel filler hole. Replace the filter if it cannot be efficiently cleaned.
6.3.3 Motor
Clean the cylinder fins with a paint brush, as shown in (L), or by blowing compressed air on a regular basis. Accumulation of dirt on
the cylinder may cause overheating that compromises efficient motor operation.
6.3.4 Spark plugs
Periodically clean the spark plug (37) and check the distance of the electrodes (38), as illustrated in (T).
Use Champion RCJ–7Y spark plugs or other brands that have an equivalent heat rating or thermal characteristics.
WARNING!
All maintenance work not specified in this manual is to be carried out at an authorized service center. Remember use of
genuine spare parts is the key to obtaining top tool performance and efficiency at all times.
6.4 Putting the tool away
Carefully follow the maintenance directions and safety rules previously given.
Thoroughly clean the tool.
Drain the fuel out of the motor tank (14) and put the cap (15) back on.
Remove the spark plug (37) and pour a bit of oil into the cylinder through the hole (33). Turn the motor shaft a few times with
the starter lever (2) to distribute the oil and then put the spark plug (37) back in place.
Wrap the motor in a sheet of nylon.
Store the tool in a dry area, preferably not directly on the ground and away from heat sources.
