- TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
5.1 Troubles, causes, remedies
WARNING!
All maintenance jobs are to be carried out by a mechanic.
TROUBLE
Tool does not start.
Hook (22) slips off extension (24).
Drop in motor (3) power.
Motor hard to start up (3).
Motor (3) overheating.
Tool casing too hot.
Oil leaks from shaft.

- MOTOR
6.1 Starting up the motor
Fill the carburator by pressing the bulb (30) a number of times.
Turn switch (10) to position "START".
Turn the starter lever (32) to position "CLOSED".
Place the motor–driven tool in a stable position on the ground, keep steady and slowly pull the starter lever (2) as far as
possible. Pull hard several times until the tool starts running. Wait 5–10 seconds and then pull the accelerator lever (12) to
automatically bring the starter lever (32) back to position "OPEN".
WARNING!
Do not use the starter lever (32) to start the tool when the motor is already hot.
6.1.1 Adjusting the carburator
Clean the air filter (28) and warm up the motor before attempting to adjust the carburator. The idle screw (31) is set so that there
is a good safety margin between the low speed and clutch engagement speed.
WARNING!
When the motor is idling (2500÷2800 rpm), the extension (24) should not move. We recommend contacting your
nearest dealer or authorized repair shop to adjust carburation.
Changes in altitude and atmospheric conditions may affect carburation.
If motor power output notably drops, verify if the air filter (28) is clogged or damaged. Replace it if necessary. Before
reinstalling, remove any dirt inside the cover and around the filter.
6.2 Stopping the motor
Bring the accelerator lever (12) to low and wait a few seconds to allow the motor to cool down.
Turn the switch (10) to position STOP to shut off the motor.
6.2.1 Breaking in the motor
Do not run the tool at peak rpm during the 20–hour break in period.
CAUSE
a) No fuel.
b) Switch (10) turned to OFF.
c) Spark plug electrodes distance.
Fixing screws (26) loose.
Air filter (28) clogged or damaged.
Fuel filter (36) dirty.
Dirt on cylinder.
No oil.
Seal worn.
REMEDY
a) Fill motor tank (14).
b) Make sure the switch is turned to Start.
c) Clean the spark plug (37) and position
the electrodes (38) as shown at (T).
Tighten screws (26).
Clean air filter (28) or replace.
Clean or replace filter (36).
Clean cylinder fins.
Take off cap (9) and top up oil to half-way
mark of gauge (8).
Have mechanic replace seal.
