3.4 WORKLIGHT
The worklight (K) and its switch (L) are located on the foot of the tool (Fig. 9). The worklight is activated when
the trigger switch (H) is depressed. The low (L1), medium (L2) and spotlight (L3) modes can be changed by
moving the switch (H) on the foot of the tool. If the trigger (H) remains depressed, the worklight will remain on
in all modes.
When on low (L1) and medium (L2) settings, the beam will automatically turn off 20 seconds after the trigger
switch (H) is released.
3.4.1
SPOTLIGHT MODE
The high setting is the spotlight mode (L3). The spotlight will run for 20 minutes after the trigger switch is
released. Two minutes before the spotlight will shut off , it will fl ash twice and then dim. To avoid the spotlight
shutting off , lightly tap the trigger switch.
WARNING: While using the worklight in medium or spotlight mode, do not stare at the light
or place the tool in a position which may cause anyone to stare into the light. Serious eye injury
could result.
3.4.2 LOW BATTERY WARNING
When in spotlight mode and the battery is nearing complete discharge, the spotlight will fl ash twice and then
dim. After two minutes, the battery will be completely discharged and the tool will immediately shut down. At
this point, replace with a fresh battery.
3.5 CHARGERS
Your tool uses a D
WALT charger. Be sure to read all safety instructions before using your charger. The charger

requires no adjustment and is designed to be as easy as possible to operate.
3.5.1 CHARGING A BATTERY (FIG. 8A)

Plug the charger into an appropriate outlet before inserting battery pack. (Refer to the Charger
Specifi cations in Section 2)

Insert the battery pack (M) into the charger, making sure the pack is fully seated in the charger. The red
(charging) light will blink continuously indicating that the charging process has started.

The completion of charge will be indicated by the red light remaining ON continuously. The pack is fully
charged and may be used at this time or left in the charger.
•
To remove the battery pack from the charger, push the battery release button on the battery pack.
NOTE: To ensure maximum performance and life of Li-Ion battery packs, charge the battery pack fully before
fi rst use.
3.5.2 CHARGER OPERATION
Refer to the indicators for the charge status of
the battery pack.
This charger will not charge a faulty battery
pack. The charger will indicate faulty battery by
refusing to light or by displaying problem pack
or charger blink pattern.
NOTE: This could also mean a problem with a
charger. If the charger indicates a problem, take
the charger and battery pack to be tested at an
authorized service centre.

The red light will continue to blink, but a yellow indicator light
will be illuminated during this operation. Once the battery
pack has reached an appropriate temperature, the yellow
light will turn off and the charger will resume the charging
procedure.
