FIELD OF APPLICATION
1.1
Application
SK breathing apparatus are to be used as personal rescue pieces of equipment wherever dangerous situations may occur due to
fire fumes or lack of oxygen. The apparatus is very light and can be carried along by an operator for long periods, as an entire
work shift, so that it is at any time ready for use in case of accident.
1.2
Limits and warnings
It is extremely important that the instructions given in these pages be followed. SK breathing apparatus shall not be used for
maintenance or work, even for a short period, nor for rescue operations or underwater work.
The equipment can be used in potentially explosive zones 1 &2.
1.3
Duration
The 2 litres 300 bar cylinder allows an autonomy greater than 15 minutes at a constant flow; the designation of the equipment is
EN 1146/15.
1.4
End of use
During use the wearer can check residual autonomy by the pressure indicator. Once air supply finishes, the wearer can breathe
the surrounding air through a valve that comes into action automatically. At this time the wearer shall be away from the
hazardous area.
2
DESCRIPTION AND WORKING PRINCIPLE
The SK breathing apparatus comprises (see Fig.1):
Pressure reducer (1)
Air Cylinder (2)
Breathing hood (3)
Pressure reducer – hood connector hose (4)
Storing and carrying bag (5)
2.1
Pressure reducer (1)
Made up of a moulded, nickel‐plated brass alloy body, it holds the pressure reducing devices that, when opened, permit a
constant air supply for the duration of the cylinder reserve. On the reduction unit there are:
Pressure indicator (a)
Quick opening device (b)
Air hose attachment (c)
Safety valve (d)
Cylinder refilling valve (e)
