Check Cell
The in-built check cell contains a sample of durum wheat. The concept of the check
cell is that it will be used as a tool to monitor if the instrument changes significantly
from day to day. The sample of durum wheat should be replaced yearly or if the
sample is suspected to have changed its properties (e.g. dried).
An empty check cell is available in cases when import of grain is not possible. This
empty cell can then be filled locally and used in the same way as described above.
Filter Cell
The filter cell is used during the instrument self-test to check that the instrument is
sufficiently stable for performing measurements.
Sample Cell
Infratec Sofia arrives with one or more sample cells depending on the selected
instrument configuration and types of samples to be analyzed.
Reference Cell
The instrument uses this cell to obtain the base spectrum.

User Interface

Infratec™ Sofia Software
The Infratec Sofia is supplied with embedded software which contains all the
necessary functions and features to operate the system on a daily basis.
FossManager Software
The Infratec Sofia is also provided with FossManager software. Links to this
software and individual logins and passwords will be distributed by e-mail for
downloading from the Internet. The FossManager software can be installed on a
standard office PC.
The instrument can be remotely monitored and updated via FossManager Updater.
FossManager Updater will automatically check and notify when updates are
available for download to the instrument. Instrument data, results and sample
information are simultaneously uploaded to the FossConnect Server. Updates and
data are transferred between FossManager and Infratec Sofia via the removable
memory card.
Sample results and information can be viewed and managed in FossManager
Express. Features of FossManager Express also include management of user-
defined fields for attaching additional information to samples; the ability to print and
export data; and the ability to manage user access to specific instruments.
