Maintenance
Carry out maintenance, repair and cleaning, as well as
malfunctions only at switched off drive. Switch off the
machine by means of the interrupter, than pull the power
plug!
All protection and safety equipment have to be re-
installed immediately after repair and maintenance. Keep
the thickness desk and the trimming desks always free
of resin. Pharmol-HEK resin remover concentrate art-no.:
6100 9700 is available at your local scheppach dealer.
The bearing of the planing shaft and of the tool spindle
has a permanent lubrication. Warming of the new
machine is conditional to the type and disappears after
some time.
Clean the feed rolls regularly.
After the first five service houers, lubricate the slide
bearings of the feed rollers, the adjustment spindlers
of the thicknessing table and the pertaining planer
block bearings, as well as the drive shaft with the joint.
Subsequently, the lubrication is to be repeated after every
20 service houers.
Check the chain tension. If required re-tighten and
lubricate. In the case of tightening of the thickness desk
chain, take care of the parallelism of the thickness desk.
Flat belt tension

Lightly loosen the gear fastening screws (SW 6) at the chassis
interior side for to re-tighten the flat belt. Press the gear in
direction bottom plate and tighten the screws again.
Install side panel and gear lever again.
Planer knives
The planer knives installed ex works are operationally
grinded and correctly adjusted.
Only well grinded and exactly adjusted planer knives
guarantee a safe operation.
We recommend:
Always keep a second set of planer knives for exchange at
disposal.
Replacement planer knives, art-no.: 6241 3500, are
available at your local dealer.
Grinding of planer knives
Dull planer knives increase the risk of accident. The
operation efficiency is no longer guaranteed.
Regrind the planer knives only up to 15 mm of the height
of the knives. The cutting angle of the knife should have
40 ± 2 grade.
The re-grinding of the planer knives has to be done
by an authorised firm or send the knives back to the
manufacturer.

While installation pay attention to, that
• danger of injury exists for fingers and hands.
• the platen areas inside the knife shaft and the taper gibs
have to be cleaned.
• the grinded planer knives are free of oil.
• only pairwise re-grinded knives are set in.
• the installation of planer knives and taper gibs is done
according to the illustrations.
• the planer knives and taper gibs finish on both sides with
the knife shaft.
• all clamp screws are firmly tightened (8,9 N/m)
Attention!
The specifications for installation of the knives, excess of the
knives, thickness of the knives, minimum chucking length
and optimal tightening torque of the knife fastening screws
have to be kept exactly.
