1.7 Qualifications needed
The machine was designed and built after a risk analysis had been carried out and
following a carefully selected range of harmonised international standards, and other
technical specifications. It corresponds, therefore, to the current state of the art technology
and ensures maximum safety.
Safety can only be assured in practical use, where all the appropriate measures required
have been taken. It is a part of the duty of care for the machine operator to plan these
measures and to monitor their implementation.
The operator must ensure, in particular, that
• the machine is only being used as intended (see sections 1.4 to 1.6)
• the machine is only operated when in perfect working order and in particular that
the safety equipment is regularly checked to ensure it functions correctly.
• these operating instructions are in legible condition and available in full where the
machine is installed and operated.
• all the safety and warning notes attached to the machine are not removed and
are legible.
The machine may only be operated by persons who are authorised and have been trained
and instructed in its use. These persons must know and follow these operating
instructions. Personnel operating the machine must know and understand how it works so
that they are able to identify any potentially dangerous situations at the earliest
opportunity. Machine operators must be familiar with the switch arrangement before
beginning work.
Operating personnel must be given clear areas of responsibility and tasks.
Personnel undergoing training are only allowed to work on the machine under the
supervision of an experienced person. When instruction has been successfully completed
this should be recorded in writing.
All control and safety equipment may only be operated by trained persons.
1.8 Protective equipment
All users are required to wear at least the following protective equipment when operating
the machine:
• Safety shoes
• Well-fitting working clothes
