SUSPENSIONS
Standard suspension setting derives from several exten-
sive demanding tests in various usage conditions and
covers a very wide range of use.

ADJUSTING THE SHOCK ABSORBER

The rear shock absorber is calibrated for running with the
rider plus a small bag only. It is thus recommended to
adjust the shock absorber setting (spring preload) when
riding with a passenger.
WARNING*: The shock absorber adjust-
ment affects both the stability and the
handling of the motorcycle. After chang-
ing the standard suspension setting,
ride with care.
We advise measuring the reference dis-
tance "A" before making any change.

ADJUSTING THE SHOCK ABSORBER SPRING PRELOAD
Proceed as follows:
1. Clean lock ring nut (1) and adjuster ring nut (2) of the
spring (3).
2. Either with a hook wrench or an aluminium punch,
loosen the lock ring nut.
3. Turn the adjuster ring nut as required.
4. When the adjusting operation is over (according to
your weight and riding style), tighten the lock ring
nut. (Torque: 36.2 ft/lb).
WARNING*: Be careful not to touch hot
exhaust pipe while adjusting the shock
absorber.
