for Venturi effect the suction of the aquarium water from the grid FIG.6 N ° 7 with return to the aquarium through the water outlet cock FIG .6 N ° 9. Warning: never
let the ballast work with the water outlet tap FIG.6 N ° 9 completely closed.
ADJUSTMENT: once the Calcium reactor has been installed and started up, check that the pump is working correctly and that the aquarium
water is sucked in from the grill FIG.6 N ° 7 with return to the aquarium through the water outlet cock FIG.6 N ° 9 the appliance can be adjusted:
- slowly close the water outlet cock FIG.6 N ° 9 until a flow of 1 to 3 l / h is obtained;
- slowly open the valve of the CO2 pressure reducer and dispense CO2 with a flow rate indicative of 1 bubble per second (verifiable through the bubble counter FIG.6
N ° 4);
- in case of use with pH-meter the CO2 flow must be regulated between 1 and 2 bubbles per second and the
controller must be set so that the solenoid valve closes the CO2 supply when the pH falls below the value of 6.70;
-after 24h (or in accordance with the instructions given by the manufacturer of the material inserted
in the reactor) check the alkalinity of the water leaving the reactor which should be higher than that
of the aquarium. We recommend the reactor so that the KH of the outgoing water is 25-30 ° dKH;
- to increase or decrease the alkalinity of the outgoing water it is necessary to increase the CO2 supplied
(increase in KH water at the outlet) or decrease the CO2 supplied (decrease in KH water at the outlet);
- in case of use with pH-meter the regulation will be done by acting on the limit value of the pH (decreasing the limit value of the
pH will increase the KH of the outgoing water and increasing the limit value of the pH will decrease the KH of the outgoing water) ;
- after a week check the KH value in the aquarium water to check the operation of the appliance. If the KH value is still low, the water flow exiting
from the water outlet tap FIG.6 N ° 9 should be increased, vice versa if it is too high the flow should be reduced. If you go to change the outflow
water after 24h the KH value of the outgoing water must be re-checked and set back to between 25 and 30 ° dKH according to what was seen above;
- check the value of the KH of the aquarium water weekly and, if necessary, repeat the correction operations described above."
In case of excessive saturation of CO2 in the reactor (presence of many bubbles that do not dissolve) or in case of precipitation of the pH in the reactor (internal water
that turns white) intervene by reducing the emission of CO2 into the reactor. Both of these situations can cause problems for the reactor or risks for the aquarium.
"Maintenance: we recommend checking the calcium reactor daily to check its operation, sealing and outgoing CO2 and water flows. Weekly measure the flow and
KH of the water leaving the reactor and, if necessary, correct them.
Every 90-120 days, a complete cleaning and check-up of the calcium reactor must be carried out. To do this, disconnect the calcium reactor pump from the electric
socket as well as all the other electrical appliances in the water, remove the calcium reactor from the sump tank, remove it completely and clean it under running
tap water. Be careful at this stage not to wet or immerse the pump plug in water. Also remove and clean the impeller from the pump. If the impeller is particularly
encrusted, we recommend soaking it for a few minutes in water and vinegar (diluted 10%), taking care to rinse it thoroughly under running tap water to remove all
traces of vinegar. Completely replace the material inside the reactor. Reassemble everything in reverse order and according to the instructions given above, restart
the reactor and adjust it again.
In the event of a significant increase in noise or vibrations produced by the calcium reactor, it is advisable to inspect and clean both the water inlet and outlet pipes
to eliminate any obstacles, and the impeller.
Do not use chemicals or products not specifically marketed to clean the calcium reactor.
