How to Toast
1. Plug toaster into electrical outlet.
2. Place bread in slots. Select toast shade and press down
the Bread Lifter. If toasting one slice, place in slot marked
"ONE SLICE."
3. At the end of the toasting cycle, the bread will pop up
automatically. To stop the toasting cycle sooner, lift up on
bread lifter.
Cleaning
NOTE: If the toaster is used daily, the crumb tray should be
cleaned weekly.
1. Unplug toaster and let cool.
2. If the toaster has a Swing
Open Crumb Tray on the
bottom of the toaster, place
the toaster on its side, as
shown. Open the Crumb Tray
and wipe off with clean cloth,
then close.
3. If the toaster has a Slide-Out
Crumb Tray, leave the toaster
sitting on the counter. Slide out crumb tray, discard crumbs
and wipe tray with clean cloth. Replace crumb tray.
4. Wipe outside of toaster with a damp cloth. Do not use abra-
sive cleansers that may scratch the surface of the toaster.

Tips and Troubleshooting
• Toasting is affected by the temperature of the bread, room
temperature or frozen; the moisture content, fresh or several
days old; and the size, thick or thin.
• If you try to toast two batches of toast, one right after
another, the Bread Lifter may not lock down immediately.
If you hear a buzzing sound when the Bread Lifter is pushed
down, this indicates that the thermostat has not reset. Wait
a few seconds and try again.
• To remove food that becomes lodged in food slots,
disconnect from outlet and allow toaster to cool. Turn
toaster upside down and shake. Do not use fork or other
utensil that could damage heating element or result in risk of
fire or electrical shock.
• Setting 6 is the darkest shade of toast color. If a darker
shade is desired, watch closely and toast for two cycles.
When toasting only one slice, if a toaster slot indicates
"ONE SLICE," make sure the bread is placed in that slot of
the toaster. When toasting a single slice you may notice
variations in bread color from side to side.
