ARMENT OFFERING A PARTIAL PROTECTION AGAINST CERTAIN SPRAY AND JET CHEMICALS IN ACCORDANCE WITH
NF EN 14605 +A1 (
2009) -
STANDARD
AUGUST
PARTIAL BODY PROTECTION
Warning: The choice and use of an item of personal protective equipment must comply with European Directive no. 89/656/EEC of 30/11/1989.
The employer must have first analysed and assessed the risks involved in the intervention and those generated by the use of the personal
protective equipment selected.
Foreword: This article has to be used under the supervision of the person in charge of the intervention who must have ensured in advance that:
This article offers adequate protection for the category of risks encountered during the intervention. The wearer is in possession of adequate
additional equipment (coverall, gloves, respiratory mask, shoes or boots that are compatible with the desired performances). The entire
intervention is supervised and all necessary means of rescue are available in case of an incident in the course of action.
This article provides protection to parts of the body only.
Area of application: This Northylon protective clothing provides the wearer a partial protection against certain spray chemicals, for a limited
period of time. The resistance against different chemicals is described here below. The nature of the work to be carried and the applicable
chemicals together with the related dangers determine the NORTHYLON chemical protective clothing to be worn. If any doubt, the user must
contact the product supplier.
Usage: Prior to use: Before using this protective equipment, the wearer must check that the protection offered meets the conditions for safe
use. Ensure that the sleeve has been cleaned in the correct manner (following the previous usage) and inspected as described in this instruction
for use.
Warning: if any doubt about the correct application, please contact your supplier or the labour inspection.
Putting in use: This equipment has to be worn in a manner that, during the work, maximal protection will be achieved. Put the sleeves on the
coverall and on the gloves. The wider end of the sleeves has to be placed on the arm above the elbow and the narrower end has to be placed on
the wrist of the wearer.
During use: In the event of a leakage or damage to the sleeve material, leave the working environment immediately and remove the sleeve.
After use: Remove the sleeves and remove any loss particles with a brush or a cloth. Clean and check the sleeves as described in the part
"cleaning and disinfection" and "inspection".
Cleaning and disinfection: Reusable sleeves. For the decontamination procedure and recommendations see the instructions for product use.
After each session, clean the sleeves, using water and a mild detergent (e.g. EW 80 Tremonia Chemie, Dortmund). The washing temperature
has to be less than 30°C. Reduce mechanical action. Do not bleach. Subsequently, rinse thoroughly with clean water. Do not use solvents. Dry
the sleeves with a cloth and/or leave it to dry in the open air. Do not iron the sleeves. Dispose contaminated sleeve by suitable means
(depending on the chemical subjected to it).
Inspection: After each cleaning activity, check the sleeve for tears, holes or damage to the coating.
Storage: In the original packaging, out of light and dust, between + 5°C and + 35°C. To avoid the risk of deterioration (crushing, deformation,
etc.), this Personal Protective Equipment should be stored in its initial packaging (cardboard box) until used.
Important: This equipment is not suitable for use during fire extinguishing (flammable material-keep away from fire) or for use in temperature
exceeding 50°C. This equipment may only be used by persons who are aware of the dangers relating to the work to be carried out. This user
information does not contain information about additionally attached personal protective equipment, as e.g. coverall, gloves, respiratory mask
and boots. Refer to the respective user manuals. To assess the chemical durability the shortest chemical permeation time of a component has to
be considered for the complete system (suit and accessories).
Ergonomics / Safety materials: The materials employed as combined and presented are not hazardous or in any particular respect noxious
(e.g. irritant to the skin) for the wearer of the equipment. The materials used in the manufacturing of the sleeves do not contain any substances
at levels know or suspected to affect the health or hygiene of the use in the foreseeable conditions of use. However, we ask you to avoid direct
contact between the materials and mucous membranes.
Waste management: Refer to the local legislation.
Size: Single size; Length: 15 inches (39 cm).
*Resistance to permeation: NC (Non-classified) < 10 min. / Class 1 > 10 min. / Class 2 > 30 min. / Class 3 > 1 hr. / Class 4 > 2 hr. / Class 5 > 4
hr. / Class 6 > 8 hr. For more information about performances, please contact Honeywell Protective Clothing.
