3 Operating Instructions

1.
Check the transport device for visible damages
such as signs of wear, deformation, breakages,
cracks and corrosion damages prior to each use.
Check all threads for damages. Do not use the
transport device when defects are noted and
discard it immediately.
2.
Fasten and secure the transport device to the
gearbox as described in the workshop manuals.
3.
Only screw in the knurled screw manually.
WARNING
Risk through falling or tilting load!
A screw-in force that is too high can damage the
gearbox housing. This could result in serious
injuries and severe damage to materials.
Never use pliers or similar aids for fastening the
knurled screw to the gearbox housing.
WARNING
Risk through falling load!
Incorrect attachment of the transport device may result
in a tilting or falling load. This could result in serious
injuries and severe damage to materials.
Attach the gearbox exactly as described in the
workshop manuals.
4.
Suspend the transport device on the hook of a
workshop crane (e.g. VAS 6100) approved by the
Volkswagen Group.
WARNING
Risk through falling load!
Incorrect attachment of the transport device may result
in a tilting or falling load. This could result in serious
injuries and severe damage to materials.
Fasten the transport device to the workshop crane
exactly as described in the workshop manuals.
Observe the operating manual of the used
accessories.
Check the secure seat of the transport device 3457
before lifting the load.
5.
Screw the support plate VW309A to the transport
device with two screws M12x1.5x35, 10.9 with a
torque of 130 Nm in accordance with the workshop
manuals.

6.
Fasten the transport device to the support plate
VW309A in accordance with the specifications in
the workshop manuals.
Secure the engine and gearbox trestle against
rolling away.
Insert the retaining tube of the support plate
completely into the support of the engine and
gearbox trestle.
Insert the positioning pins.
WARNING
Crushing hazard!
Risk of crushing between the load and
VAS 6095/VAS 6095A or VW313 by a moving load.
Position hands and feet in such a manner that
crushing hazards do not exist when moving the
gearbox.
7.
Carry out further work as described in the
workshop manuals.
8.
Ensure that all parts of the special tool have been
removed after completing the repair work.
