Operating and maintenance information

– There is a limit on the max. weight of
the transported product and the max.
length of the chain conveyor due to
the permissible tensile force. The
permissible chain tensile force is
dependent on the chain speed, the
chain's operating temperature, the
amount of load alternations, the
system layout, and the connecting
frequency.
– The maximum width of a transported
product depends on the position of its
centre of mass and the lateral guides.
– When using a conveyor with a driver
chain for vertical transport, the
maximum weight of a single product is
limited by the strength of the drivers
and the service life of the slide rails .
– Pay attention to the cleanliness of the
slide rails and conveyor section
profiles when assembling the chain .
Metal shavings or dust have a ver y
abrasive effect and can cause
excessive wear!
– Maintenance work is more frequent in
accumulation operation. Higher
temperatures and wear and tear are
caused by the sliding friction. Please
check the sliding rails and the
underside of the track pads in the
accumulation area for inlet tracks
every 500 h (max. permissible wear of
the sliding rail and track pad 0.7 mm in
total). When the system is in
accumulation operation, we
recommend constant monitoring of the
system.
– Note: Avoid accumulation before and
in curves .
– The sliding friction factor increases
over the course of time.
Linear Motion and Assembly Technologies
– A VarioFlow chain conveyor can be
operated without product
accumulation and curves at
temperatures between 0°C
(32°F) and +60°C (+140°F).
The temperature effects should,
however, be considered when cur ves
are used or when the system is used
in accumulation operation .
– Inspection inter vals for chains: The
chain increases in size along with
increasing running times. This is
especially the case during the st art-up
phase with heavy loads, but also
afterwards . If necessary, remove some
of the chain links during the start-up
phase. If there is a sag in the chain
conveyor, this will cause the drive
unit's chain opening to wear out.
– The chain should be shortened after a
running time of approx. 40 hours . This ,
however, depends on the load and
temperature on the chain . Further
inspections: after 200 op . hours, after
400 op . hours, after 600 op. hours
and then after ever y 1,000 op . hours.
– The maximum permissible chain
elongation is 5%. If this value is
reached , the chain has to be replaced .
– Carry out a regular visual check on the
chain (any sags in the chain at the
head drive). Interval: every 2,000 h
(approx. 83 days in 3-shift operation).
Take advantage of this inspection to
check the slide rails and the underside
of the track pads for wear tracks (max.
permissible wear of the sliding rail and
track pad 0.7 mm in tot al) and also
clean any dust caused by wear from
the system. Increased wear on the
chain conveyor is common during the
3-week start-up phase. The system
should therefore be cleaned more
often during this period .

– Inspection inter vals for curves: Check
the slide rails in the horizontal and
vertical cur ves regularly, i.e. every 250
op . hours. Check the roller bearing for
smooth running in horizont al curves.
Replace the worn-down slide rails
(max. perm. wear of the sliding rail and
track pad 0.7 mm in tot al). Slide rails
are parts which are subject to wear.
– Inspection inter vals for chain in the
transmission drive: The chain is
delivered with basic greasing. Check
the chain tension and make certain
that the chain is sufficiently lubricated
after 40 op . hours, after 200 op.
hours , after 600 op. hours and then
after ever y 1,000 op hours.
– Maintenance inter vals for the entire
system: Remove the chain from the
chain conveyor after every 2,000 op.
hours (every 500 h when using
curves ) and check the condition of the
slide rails and the underside of the
track pads for wear tracks. Please
ensure that the slide rails are securely
fastened and also check for wear.
Replace the worn-down slide rails
(max. permissible wear of the sliding
rail and track pad 0.7 mm in total).
Slide rails are parts which are subject
to wear.
– Maintenance work is more frequent in
accumulation operation .
