SAFETY INFORMATION
risk of electric shock. Can shock, burn or kill. Connect only to a branch circuit protected by
a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). The GFCI should be provided by the installer and
should be tested on a routine basis. Contact a qualified electrician if you cannot verify that the
circuit is protected by a GFCI. To test the GFCI, push the test button and power should be interrupted.
Push the reset button and power should be restored. If the GFCI fails to operate in this manner, the
GFCI is defective. If the GFCI interrupts power to the pump without the test button being pushed, a
ground current is flowing, indicating the possibility of an electric shock. In that case, do not use this
pump. Disconnect the power to the pump and have the problem corrected by a qualified service
representative before using.
This pump is for use with permanently installed pools and may also be used with hot tubs
and spas if so marked. Do not use with storable pools. A permanently installed pool is constructed in
or on the ground or in a building such that it cannot be readily disassembled for storage. A storable
pool is constructed so that it may be readily disassembled for storage and reassembled to its original
integrity.
risk of hazardous pressure. Pool and spa circulation systems operate
under high pressure. Incorrectly installed or tested equipment may fail, causing
severe injury or property damage. Read and follow instructions in the owner's
manual when installing and operating pool circulation equipment. Have a trained
pool professional perform all pressure tests.
1. Do not connect system to a high pressure or city water system.
2. Use equipment only in a pool or spa installation.
3. Trapped air in system may cause a separation and cause severe bodily injury and/or property
damage. BE SURE all air is out of system before operating or testing equipment. See hazardous
pressure warning below. Do not use compressed air to clean, test, or purge equipment for winter.
Before pressure testing, make the following safety checks:
• Check all clamps, bolts, lids, and system accessories before testing.
• Release all air in system before testing.
• Tighten pump trap cover to 30 ft./lbs. (4.1 kg/m) torque for testing.
• Water pressure for test must be less than 25 PSI (7.5 kg/cm²).
• Water temperature for test must be less than 100°F (38°C).
• Limit test to 24 hours. After test, visually check system to be sure it is ready for operation.
Release air pressure from the system. Remove and replace trap cover. Hand tighten trap
cover only.
NOTICE: These testing parameters apply only to the models described herein. For other
equipment, consult the manufacturer.
Hazardous pressure. Stand clear of pump and filter (not included) during start-up.
Pool and spa circulation systems operate under high pressure. When any part of the circulation
system (i.e., filter locking ring, pump, filter, valves, etc.) is serviced, air can enter the system and
become pressurized.
