Clean the Screen/Replace the Piston
NOTE: An inlet screen is provided to keep debris from damaging
the valve's solenoid. The screen may require periodic cleaning.
Close the control stop valve.
NOTE: If the unit has not flushed since the stop valve was closed,
the inlet arm may still be pressurized.
Using a strap wrench, slowly turn the inlet arm valve
counterclockwise. Water pressure in the inlet arm will release.
Loosen the inlet arm valve nut and slip it back on the inlet arm.
Using a strap wrench, loosen the nut on the vacuum breaker at
the bottom of the valve body.
Remove or turn the valve body to get access to the retainer.
Using a 1/2" socket, remove the retainer from the inlet arm.
NOTE: The flow restrictor is not expected to come out with the
screen. However, be prepared to catch it if it falls. If required,
reinstall the flow restrictor.
Remove the screen from the inlet arm. If necessary, carefully use a
needle-nosed pliers to pull the screen from the inlet arm. Do not
damage the screen.
Gently brush and rinse all debris from the screen. If required, use
vinegar to remove hard water deposits.
