Fig. A
This figure shows the layout of the auxiliary wiring harness for navigation D on vehicles before production date 9/98.
Fig. B
Fit retaining clip (7) with connected branch A15 from on-board monitor wiring harness A in mounting bracket for
video module at front (17).
Clip branch D1, black 6-pin pin housing from auxiliary wiring harness for navigation D, to branch A15 from on-board
monitor wiring harness A .
Firmly secure branch D1, 6 mm ø cable eye, to ground terminal point X10305 under the left-hand tail light.
Route auxiliary wiring harness for navigation D along closing panel to right-hand side section and from here to the
leadthrough grommet at the top right of the luggage compartment (see Fig. A) and secure with cable straps (32).
Fig. C
Route auxiliary wiring harness for navigation D together with branches D3, D4, D5 and D6 through leadthrough
grommets (61) into vehicle interior and along the right-hand main wiring loom to place of installation of light module
in right-hand A-pillar (see Fig. A) and secure with cable straps (32).
Fig. D
Firmly secure branch D3, 6 mm ø cable eye to ground terminal point X10012 in front area of right-hand sill
(rocker panel).
Fig. E
Remove light module (62), disconnect black 54-pin socket housing X10117 from light module (62) and open.
Connect branch D4, 1-pin blade terminal contact, white/yellow wire, at PIN38 of black 54-pin
socket housing X10117.
Close black socket housing X10117, connect and reinstall light module (62).
If necessary, tie back excess length of auxiliary wiring harness for navigation D before branch D3.

b
This figure shows the installation on a left-hand drive vehicle, the identical procedure should be followed for
right-hand drive vehicle.
c
On left-hand drive vehicles, route branches D5 and D6 from auxiliary wiring harness for navigation D to ABS control
unit (67) on left next to glovebox (excess length must be tied back).
On right-hand drive vehicles, route branches D5 and D6 of auxiliary wiring harness for navigation D behind the
heater box to ABS control unit on right next to glovebox.
Remove ABS control unit (67). Disconnect control unit connector X1171 and disassemble.
Fit branches D5 and D6 in connector entry fitting (68).
Automatic transmission vehicles with M62 engine only
Connect branch D5, 1-pin blade terminal contact, black wire, at PIN72 of control unit connector X1171.
If PIN72 is already used, the contact part of branch D5 must be cut off and the black wire must be soldered to the
wire from PIN72 and insulated in the package area of the ABS plug connector.
Connect D6, 1-pin blade terminal contact, yellow wire, at PIN73 of control unit connector X1171.
If PIN73 is already used, the contact part of branch D6 must be cut off and the yellow wire must be soldered to the
wire from PIN73 and insulated in the package area of the ABS plug connector.
Reassemble control unit connector X1171 and reconnect to ABS control unit (67).
Install ABS control unit (67) and secure auxiliary wiring harness for navigation D with cable straps (32).
