Exhaust

Do not reduce or close the exhaust opening. If the discharge is collected, the pipe section must
have a minimum internal diameter equivalent to that of the pump discharge port. Pipelines
must be dimensioned in such a way that the pressure in the piping connected to the discharge
never exceeds 100mbar relative.
If several pumps are connected to the same exhaust piping, the section of the latter must at least be
equivalent to that of the sum of sections of the pumps' discharge ports. The manifold must be designed so
that, if condensation forms in the exhaust piping, it cannot return by flow to one of the pumps. It is
recommended to place a draining system at the lowest point of the discharge piping.
Use a hose that withstands heat (T° exhaust = 120°C) to connect to the pipe.
If the exhaust is connected to an extraction system, the relative pressure to the pump discharge must not
drop below -50mbar.
Depending on the application, the gases or vapours released can be harmful to health and/or
the environment. Respect applicable regulations.
Oil filling – gear box
Remove the oil plug and fill up to the middle of the oil sight glass at the bottom of the gear box.
Operation without oil or with insufficient oil may damage the vacuum pump.
The use of oil, other than that recommended by MIL'S, engages your responsibility and/or
responsibility of your supplier. The use of unsuitable oil can destroy the pump.

Electrical connection

The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician to ensure the connection
to be carried out correctly and in accordance with the regulations in force in the country of use.
If the loss of vacuum can be dangerous to the process in which it is used, the vacuum pump and
its control system must be connected to a backup power supply.
The electrical specifications of the motor must correspond to the mains power supply (voltage, frequency,
current).
If necessary, change the position of the jumpers in the motor terminal box according to the available
voltage. The motor must be protected by a magneto-thermal circuit breaker. Adjust the rating of the
circuit-breaker in relation to the current indicated on the motor.
If the magneto-thermal circuit breaker cuts off the power supply to the pump:
Find the cause of the fault and eliminate it
Wait until the temperature of pump casing has cooled to room temperature before starting the
pump again.
The pumps are designed for direct start-up. The motors are IP55, class F.
The maximum recommended number of starts is limited to 10 per hour.

Before starting the pump, check the oil level of the gear box.
Switch the pump on again and after three minutes of operation, stop the pump to top up the oil level of the
gear box if necessary.
The period between overhauls depends on the process for which the pump is used and the assurance of
correct operation.
Do not disassemble the pump more than necessary during repair or service operations.

Commissioning

It is strictly forbidden to operate the vacuum pump with one or more disassembled components
or the motor terminal box open.
The order of the phases must be checked before starting the pump in order to validate its
rotation direction (red arrow on the electric motor), using a rotating field controller. If
necessary, change the direction by switching over two wires on the motor terminal box.
Operation in the wrong direction of rotation can damage the vacuum pump.

Usual servicing

Take every possible precaution to protect the environment. In particular, all waste fluids should
be recovered and recycled. Never dispose of these fluids directly into the environment.
Recycle used oils, greases and filters through an organization approved by the country where
the equipment is used.
When carrying out maintenance and repair work, it is essential to avoid the risks associated with
moving or live parts.
Before performing any service or maintenance operation on the pump:
The pump must be switched off and electrically locked.
Wait until the temperature of pump casing has cooled down to ambient temperature.
Isolate the pump from the application.
