4.3.4 Connection to KMA 800 computer unit
The KMA 800 computer unit is located either in a protective
housing on the wiring cabinet of the EPS or in a KMA 822 in a
trolley.
Sequence:
1.
Connect the serial connecting cable 1 684 465 388 to serial
interface X3 on the control device.
2.
The other end of the connecting cable should be fitted to the
serial interface (COM 3) on the rear panel of the KMA 800
computer unit.
i The layout of the interfaces of the KMA800 computer unit is
described in the enclosed operator's manual for the PC
units.
! The connecting cables should be routed such that they do
not cause an obstruction nor pose a hazard.
4.3.5 Connection of EPS wiring cabinet power supply
! When fitting connecting cable X4, make sure that the banana
plug is plugged into the correct socket in the EPS switch
cabinet.
! Never connect or disconnect the power supply of the
CRE800 control device when the test bench is switched on.
This could destroy the PCB or the control device.

Windows 2000
i When operating for the first time, the operating system
Windows 2000 must be installed, and appropriate settings
(time, national language etc.) completed.
– Install Windows 2000 as described in Installation Instructions
1 689 979 861.
5.2
KMA system software EPS 945
i Installation of the KMA system software EPS 945 is explai-
ned in the program description EPS945-PE/VE/CR (Bosch
order no. 1 689 979 859) in Chapter 14.1 (Installing the KMA
System Software EPS945).
i The application EPS944-VP29/30/44 can only be used in
conjunction with the VPM 844 retrofit kit (1 687 001 844).
– Install the following applications on the KMA800 PC:

Updating the Firmware
i The procedure for updating the firmware is explained in the
program description EPS945-PE/VE/CR (Bosch order no.
1 689 979 859) in Chapter 14.2 (Updating the Firmware).
Each time it is started the KMA system software EPS945 auto-
matically checks the firmware version on the EP test system. If an
out-of-date version of the firmware is detected on the EP test
system, then a status display window containing the following
message will appear:
„Firmware version KMA802 out of date"
-or-
„Firmware version DZE800 out of date"
-or-
„Firmware version CRE800 out of date"
In this case the firmware in question should be updated.
