Troubleshooting

Problem
LPD fails to operate
LPD lacks striking power
LPD runs slow
LPD runs hot

Machine data

LPD w/built-in valve: Weight without hoses and adaptor
LPD w/remote valve: Weight without hoses, remote valve and adaptor
Oil flow
Working pressure
Maximum back pressure in return line, measured at post driver
Hydraulic oil working temperature
High-pressure accumulator charging pressure, nitrogen
Maximum pressure relief valve setting
Blow frequency at 30 lpm
Impact energy
Connections P and T
Required cooling capacity, in case of alternative power source

Oil flow range setting

The post driver is factory set to work on 30 lpm (ETHMA D). In case there is a need the post driver can be
adjusted to work on 20 lpm or 25 lpm. In order to do this the nipple on the T-port of the valvehousing must be
replaced with another nipple with restrictor inside. For the optional nipples, see the Spare parts list. The needed
nipples for this setting are not supplied with the post driver, they have to be ordered separately.

Noise and vibration declaration statement

Guaranteed sound power level Lw according to ISO 3744 in accordance with directive 2000/14/EC.
Sound pressure level Lp according to ISO 11203.
Vibration value A and uncertainty B determined according to ISO 20643. See table "Noise and vibration data"
for the values of A, B, etc.

Original instructions
Cause
No flow from supply
Hoses incorrectly fitted
Main spool jammed or damaged
Striker piston seized
Insufficient available pressure
Low accumulator gas pressure (Normally
associated with violent shaking of hoses)
Insufficient flow
Cold oil
High return line back pressure
Incorrect oil
Quick release coupling defect
Inadequate cooling of hydraulic oil
Safety and operating instructions
Solution
Check output with flow and pressure tester
Check that pressure feed is connected to P
port on the LPD
Remove and check, clean all associated
parts
Remove and check for damage and seizing
marks
Check main relief valve and flow
Re-charge the accumulator, see service
manual
Check that the flow rate is correct
Warm up the oil supply, optimum
temperature 30–70° C (86–158° F)
Check return line back-pressure, pressure
should not exceed 10 bar
Use only Hydraulic Oil according to spec
Locate and replace defect coupling
Check oil supply has adequate cooling,
temperature should not exceed 80 °C (176
°F)
