CHAPTER 2

2.1 - SAFETY DEVICES

The motor-reducer comes supplied – according to the model chosen – with an electrical clutch which can be adjusted. This guarantees safety
against the danger of crushing (please read chapter 4 and the circuit diagram to see how to set it). It also has a stop switch to stop the gate
when opening and closing by means of special bars on the rack. The motor-reducer can be combined with the START accessories series, which
allows to drive the gate in full safety.
WARNING
To help to a better automation safety it is necessary for the gate structure to be in accordance with the now-in-force rules.
CHAPTER 3
3.1 - TESTS FOR THE SETTING OF THE GATE
The success of a sliding gate automation involves the necessity for the gate and its mechanics to satisfy certain building- and functional-
requirements, which, if not respected, can cause serious difficulties. The main characteristic which has to be considered is the flowability, a good
gate is the one that can be moved by hand; the following indications are useful to make sure that this characteristic will last in the time.
Gate manufacture: the gate structure must be stiff, straight to avoid bendings of the stucture itself; you haven't to set up any kind of automatic
closing lock.
Lower slides: the slide must be straight, perfectly horizontal (aligned), in order to assure the gate flowability. The cross-section of the rail can be
either A-type (round) or B-type (Vee-shaped) as shown in fig. 2. The round shape is better for heavy gates, and the Vee for lighter ones.
WARNING
To the inferior slide you have to solder a retainer for the opening and closing gate (picture 3), in order to avoid the getting out from the
slide of the gate itself and the consequent dangerous turning over of the gate.
Upper slides: the slides must be two at least and they must be aligned to assure the gate stability. In picture n. 4 you can see some examples of
installation.
Wheels: the shape and the dimensions of the wheels must be suitable to the profile of the lower slides, they must be set close to the extremities
of the gate and they have to be in good conditions to assure a perfect flowability.
3.2 - SELECTION OF THE AUTOMATION
The choice of motor-reducer is very important for the success of the automation you are going to create. It must be made after considering the
weight of the gate, friction, and the number of manoeuvres (see technical data).
3.3 - SELECTION OF THE SAFETY DEVICES
WARNING
The selection, the setting up and the installation of the components and of the safety devices have to be made according to UNI 8612
safety rules, or to the rules of the installation country.
The GULLIVER motor-reducer series is provided, according to the models, with mechanical adjustable friction (incorporater in the motor) or
electrical friction; furthermore, DEA SYSTEM has the following devices available:
• flasher,
• photocells,
• passive sensitive frames (obligatory).
All the electrical safety devices ca.n be driven by a DEA SYSTEM control equipment.
It is necessary to check the safety devices periodically.
3.4 - COMPONENTS SETTING
1) Motor-reducer.
2) Control-equipment in case or push-button.
3) Safety photocells.
4) Sensible frames (of required measures).
5) Antenna receiving remote controls.
6) Flasher.
7) Key manual control device.
8) Grounding of the metallic structures.
