8. Programming measurement methods
The viscosimeter can store different measurement setups. This is especially useful
when one has to take measurements routinely.
The programmed measures are particularly useful to measure the viscosity of substances
whose viscosity changes with time.
For example, in paints, adhesives, etc... where the measurement objective is to
measure the time it takes to reach a certain viscosity value (as paint is drying).
There are two ways to do this kind of measurements:
a) Make measurements till the viscosity reaches a certain value. This method is called:
«Time To Torque».
b) Make measurements over a certain time for later analysis.
To have these measurement methods programmed, the viscosimeter has 9 program
memories.
Every program memory consists of three blocks:
a) Viscosimeter programming.
b) Data storage.
c) Measurement configuration.

8.1 Access to viscosimeter programming
M6
From the main menu, select «Memories» to enter the menu (See Fig 8.0).
M9
Select «Write memory» to program a new technique.
With the «TAB» key, select a memory (among M1 ...M9) to program and accept with
«ENTER».
8.2 «Time to Torque» and «Time to Stop»
TTT time: «Time To Torque»: the equipment will make measures at scheduled intervals
(see section 7.5: «Inc» time) until the viscosity reaches a certain value.
OFF
The viscosity limit value is specified by entering the FS percentage in the «Torque»
field.
OFF
This percentage should be between 15 and 80% of Full Scale.
For instance (see table for model «R»):
•
RPM = 10;
•
Calculate 70% of 10.000, which is 7.000 cP.
•
If we enter 70 in the «Torque» field, the equipment will stop when viscosity reaches
the value of 7.000 cP.
Off
TTS time: «Time To Stop»: the equipment will make measures at scheduled intervals
(see section 7.5: «Inc» time) until the indicated time.
8.3 Programming
For a method programming, please follow the indications below:
a) Select «Write memory»: for a new technique.
b) Select a memory: M1 ... M9. Then ENTER.
c) Select if it is TTT or TTS. Select with TAB and accept with ENTER. Fig. 8.3
d) If you have selected TTT: enter the end point: FE %.
f ) If you have selected TTS: enter end of readings hh:mm:ss.
g) Establish start/end and the readings interval.
g/cm3
h) Configure the RPM measure and the spindle.
