All appliances must be disconnected from the mains before any service and repair work. Appliances
must not be switched on in the ex-area.
Special repairs must only be carried out by our customer service team or other Wilo approved units. In
the ex-area, never wipe plastic parts using cloths or similar materials as this creates a risk of electro-
static build-up.
WARNING! Risk of electric shock!
The pump must be switched off for all maintenance and repair work and secured against
unauthorised operation!
WARNING! Risk of infection!
In order to avoid infection, maintenance work should only be carried out using suitable
protective gloves!
DANGER! Risk of asphyxiation!
For reasons of safety, maintenance work should only be carried out in the presence of
another person and never in the ex-area!
2.6 Unauthorised modification and manufacture of spare parts
Alterations to the pump or installation may only be carried out with the manufacturer's consent. The
use of original spare parts and accessories authorised by the manufacturer will ensure safety. The use
of any other parts may invalidate claims invoking the liability of the manufacturer for any conse-
quences.
2.7 Unauthorised operating methods
The operating safety of the pump or installation supplied can only be guaranteed if it is used in accor-
dance with paragraph 1 of the operating instructions. All values must neither exceed nor fall below the
limit values given in the catalogue or data sheet as this could lead, for example, to excess temperature.
3 Operation in ex-areas
DANGER! Danger of explosion!
Unauthorised operating methods and failure to comply with these instructions invali-
dates the given explosion protection!
3.1 General
The submersible pump is normally immersed in the flow medium. The pump is driven by an encased
three-phase current motor which is impermeable to pressurised water.
For a fix installation of the pump, the metal housing of the pump must be additionally earthed in
compliance with regulations.
Pumps with hydraulics from plastic must only be used in wet-well installation if they are to be in-
stalled in ex-areas.
For pumps with plastic hydraulic parts the explosion protection in dry- well installation
is not guaranteed!
In addition to the motor protection switch, the motor must also be directly thermally monitored by
the temperature sensors (WSK = normally closed contact) on the stator coil.
