you have no new messages. Therefore, you will know that there are no
new messages and that you can replace the receiver, if the answerphone
has not switched on after 10 seconds. See also

Recording time

You can set how long the message on the answering machine may be.
The default value is 60 seconds. The total recording time is 15 minutes.
Open the 'Settings' sub-menu and the 'Record time' option there, in the

'Answer Machine' menu.
Select '30 s.', '60 s.', '120 s' or '180 s' and confirm with MENU.

Monitoring
With the "Monitoring" function you can listen to a call without interrupting
the message being recorded on the answering machine. This function is
helpful, e.g. when you first want to hear who the caller is.
Open the 'Settings' sub-menu and the 'Call screen' option there, in the

'Answer Machine' menu.
Select 'On' or 'Off' and confirm with MENU.

The 'Screen?' message will appear on the display of the handset when the
answerphone switches on, in the case of a call, provided that the
monitoring function has been activated.
Then press the MENU key to listen to the caller.

To accept the call press the Talk key on the handset.

