Auto-Spin
and back the cable up using the REVERSE AUTO-
FEED™ lever. Then use the FORWARD lever to a-
gain feed the cable to remove the obstruction a piece
at a time. Continue this back-and-forth motion until you
have broken through the obstruction.
Do not allow tension to build up in the
WARNING
cable. Cable can twist and kink causing injury.
6. Once you have cleared the obstruction, retrieve the
cable by using the REVERSE AUTOFEED™ lever.
Keep the operating mode on the machine in the ON
position. Do not put the machine in the REV position.
7. Turn machine OFF just prior to cable emerging from
drain opening as cable may contain debris and splash
work area.
NOTE! The machine is specifically designed with a mo-
mentary reverse switch which will NOT allow the
switch to stay in the REV Operating Mode. The
only time you will need to use the REV Operating
Mode is in the event that the cable gets caught in
the obstruction. In this situation, you will need to
hold the switch on the machine in the REV posi-
tion to keep the cable rotating in reverse.
NOTE! When the machine is in the REV mode, the di-
rection of the AUTOFEED™ levers will be re-
versed, (i.e. FORWARD lever will become RE-
VERSE and REVERSE lever will become
FORWARD).
8. If the cable does get caught in an obstruction, hold the
switch on the machine in the REV position and retract
the cable by depressing the FORWARD AUTO-
FEED™ lever. This will allow the cable to dislodge
itself from the obstruction. Once the cable is dis-
lodged, put the machine back in the ON Operating
Mode and continue the drain cleaning process.
9. Once the drain has been cleared, replace the P-trap
for sinks or the stopper linkage and overflow cover
plate for tubs.
10. Flush the drain by running the hot water for several
minutes.
Maintenance Instructions
WARNING
Make sure machine is unplugged from power source
before performing maintenance or making any ad-
justment.
1. Drain the inner drum of any captured liquids after
each use. Simply hold the machine nose down and
drain any liquid that may be captured inside of the
drum. Removing the guide hose from the machine will
aid in the draining process.

each use. RIDGID cable rust inhibitor should be ap-
plied prior to storage.
Cables should be replaced when they be-

come severely corroded or worn. A worn cable can be
identified when outside coils of the cable become flat.
3. Use a clean cloth to wipe the unit off. Do not use
any cleaning agents or solvents as they may damage
the plastic parts.
Instructions for Replacing the
Cable
1. Remove the guide hose by pulling it off of the nose of
the machine. Pull up on the AUTOFEED™ levers so
that the end of the cable can fit through the AUTO-
FEED™ and pull the cable through the guide hose.
Push remaining cable back into the drum until just the
tip of the cable is left outside of the nose of the ma-
chine.
2. Loosen the three screws surrounding the outer drum
housing. (The screws do not need to be completely re-
moved). Remove the drum cover.
3. Pull the entire drum out of the machine.
4. Flip the drum over and remove the three outer-most
screws from the drum.(Figure 8)

5. Pull out the inner drum and disconnect the cable.
Push the end back into the drum.
6. Face the drum towards the floor. Starting with the
auger end of the cable, pull the cable out completely
through the front of the drum.
7. Feed the end of the new cable back through the
nose of the outer drum and then attach it to the inner
drum (Figure 9). Use the illustration on the inner drum
as a guide for which direction to start the cable.
