There are two measurements related to BER:
CBER (Channel Bit Error Rate): BER measurement after passing through the
-
COFDM demodulator and before applying the error correction or FEC (Forward
Error Correction).
LBER (LDPC Bit Error Rate): BER measurement after applying the LDPC
-
(Low-density parity-check) error correction.
The following represents the CBER measurement.

In a digital signal reception system (DVB-T2), after the COFDM signal decoder,
two methods for error correction are applied (see figure below). Each time an error
correction is applied to the digital signal, the error rate changes. So depending where at
the output of the COFDM demodulator is measured the error rate, whether after the
LDPC decoder (Low Density Parity Check) or at the output of the BCH decoder, different
error rates will be obtain.
