3.3 Errors in the case of power supply
via OBD cable

The KTS module is not to be supplied with voltage
from the power supply unit during this test.

A tested OBD cable 1 684 465 755 and a tested
UNI cable 1 684 463 539 must be used for the test.
1. Insert the OBD cable 1 684 465 755 into the DIAG
socket on the KTS module
2. Connect the UNI cable 1 684 463 539 to the OBD
cable.
3. Insert the banana plugs for B+ (red) and B– (black)
at the P100 in the sockets for B+ and B–.
4. Set the B+/B- voltage toggle switch at the P100 to
12V.
5. Switch on the P100.
6. Check status of LED:
ON/OFF LED Status
Green light KTS 560 / 590 is
ready for opera-
tion.
Flashes green KTS 560 / 590
/ off defective.
4. Restoring the delivery
condition

The "Recovery Mode" button must only be ope-
rated in the event of a malfunction of the KTS
module.

The firmware is deleted via the "Recovery Mode"
key and must subsequently be reinstalled via the
DDC (Diagnostic Device Configuration).
4.1 Resetting the KTS module
¶
Press "Recovery Mode" key > 3 seconds.

Update firmware

1. Close ESI[tronic] 2.0.
2. Connect the KTS module to the power supply.
3. Connect the KTS module to the computer using the
USB connecting cable.
4. Start ESI[tronic] 2.0.
5. Select "(Main menu) >> Hardware settings".
6. Select KTS 5xx / 6xx tab.
7. Select "Start configuration".
8. Heed and follow the instructions on the screen.

ERROR LED no longer lights up.
If the firmware is not updated after the "Recovery
mode" key is pressed, the voltage supply and the USB
connecting cable must be disconnected. After the
voltage supply is reconnected, the ERROR LED must be
off again.
