MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION

CAUTION!
- Disconnect the plug before performing any cleaning, maintenance or repair operation.
Always wear suitable clothing and working gloves.
- When the machine or part of it is lifted to carry out maintenance operations, always
remember to use suitable fixing tools such as holders and safety locks.
- When carrying out maintenance operations and/or when the machine is tilted without
safety locks or supports, never leave it unguarded in places where inexperienced people
and children could have easy access to it.
- Protect the environment: carefully dispose of used oils, petrol and any other pollutant
product!
- Effective maintenance and correct lubrication help to keep the machine fully efficient.
RUNNING-IN: replace the engine oil after the first 20 working hours. Check that there are no oil
leakages or loose screws.
ENGINE – Follow the instructions on lubrication intervals in the relative manual. In general, users
are advised to check the oil level every 8 working hours and to replace it every 100 hours. Always
use engine oil 15W40. Check the air filter every 8 working hours or more often in very dusty
conditions. If necessary add engine oil (see the engine manual). For dry air filter replace the
cartridge should this be clogged (never clean it with compressed air).Often check that the head fins
and the cylinder fins are not dirty by unscrewing the casings; follow the instructions contained in
the engine manual.
GEARBOX – Check the oil level every 50 working hours by removing the cap. With the machine
set in horizontal position the oil level has to be situated between the two notches. If necessary add
MP 80 W/90 (US MIL-L-2105D) oil. Change the oil once a year.
GEARBOX—Check the oil level every 50 working hours by removing the cap. The oil level must be
between the two notches with the walking tractor in horizontal position. If necessary add MP 80 W/
90 (API GL5 US-MIL-L-2105D) oil. Replace the oil once a year.

TIPS FOR EFFICIENT USE

1) Always release the red clutch lever (fig. 3, n. 2) before shifting form the forward gear to the
reverse gear and vice-versa.
2) Always release the red clutch lever (fig. 3, n. 2) before engaging the PTO.
3) Never leave the machine exposed to bad weather condition.
4) Keep cables and lever always clean from dust and residues.
5) Never force the reverse gear: If the gear does not engage immediately, do not force the lever
but press and release it repeatedly until the gear engages.
6) Never strain the engine: if smoke comes out of the exhaust, slow down.
7) Even impossible ground can be tilled, but the machine must be well run-in first.
8) Frequently check the tyre pressure.
9) When fitting the implements (e.g. rotary tiller) take care not to damage the centring device of the
walking tractor gearbox (fig. 2).
CAUTION: blades are cutting components, hold them with care, always with the engine off
and always wear safety gloves.
