7. Recommendations during operation.
- Do not exceed the capacity of the winch. A stuck vehicle, on
sand, mud or other, exerts much stronger force than its own wei-
ght.
- Keep in mind at all times that the rated capacity is only the first
layer of wire rope entering the drum, resulting in an estimated
loss of 10% for each layer is added to the drum. (See the Table
Capacity label on your winch)
- The use of a pulley in recovery operations is recommended,
in order to double the capacity of the winch and reduce their
speed in the same proportion. Secure the pulley to the anchor
point and pass the cable through it, returning with the hook to a
safe point on the chassis of your vehicle.
- Place wedges on tires for rescue maneuvers.
- Do not move the vehicle to assist the winch. Vehicle movement
in combination with winch operation may overload the wire
The best way to learn about the operations of the winch is to do some practice tests before
first use. Remember that you can hear the winch too. Familiarize yourself with the sounds of
a light load and a heavy load and a load that runs or shakes. Soon you will gain confidence
rope, the winch or harm to the load.
- Sudden movements are dangerous! A sudden movement can
easily exceed the maximum capacity of the wire rope. A moving
vehicle with the wire rope not tensioned is extremely dange-
rous.
- Use caution when attaching the load and removing it. Never
allow the load to be quickly released. This maneuver should be
slow and carefully done.
8. Battery:
- Make sure the battery is in good condition. Avoid contact with
battery acid or other contaminants.
- Always wear eyes protection when working with a battery.
- Leave the engine running when using the winch to prevent ba-
ttery discharge.
CAUTION
with the operation of the winch.
