tor switch (4) to the position
for maintenance-free batte-
ries

After the end of charging:
7. Set the On–Off switch (5) to
"0" (OFF).
8. Remove the charging clips from
the battery.
Charging
exhausted batteries
In this mode, it is possible to charge
very cold batteries and batteries
which have an open-circuit voltage
of below 7.5 V or 15 V, i.e. exhaus-
ted batteries.
F Act with caution!
The overvoltage limit function
and the rated battery voltage
English
check are deactivated in this
mode.
F Exhausted batteries must be
disconnected from the vehi-
cle supply system for char-
ging purposes.
F Only one exhausted battery
must be charged in each
case.
1. Disconnect the battery from the
vehicle electrical system.
2. Set the On-Off switch (5) to "0"
(OFF).
3. Connect the charging clips to
the battery with the correct pola-
rity:
– Red clip to positive terminal
– Black clip to negative terminal
F Make sure that the charging
clips are attached securely.
F Do not disconnect the charg-
ing clips during charging.
4. Set the voltage selector switch
(4) to the correct rated voltage:
12V or
24V
F The rated battery voltage and
selected charging
must agree!
5. While pressing the pushbut-
ton
set the On-Off switch
(5) to "I" (ON).
F Continuously
monitor
charging operation.
6. After the end of charging:
7. Set the On-Off switch (5) to "0"
(OFF).
8. Remove the charging clips from
the battery.

It is hereby certified that the charger
LW 12/20 E is radio-interference
suppressed in accordance with the
regulations of the "German PTT Offi-
cial Gazettte Ordinance 1044/1984.
