Problem Possible Cause
Pump starts and 1. Incorrect tank pre-charged
stops too often 2. Ruptured diaphragm/bladder
(pre-charged tank)/or has no air cushion

4. Foot valve leaks
5. Improperly adjusted pressure switch
6. Air charge too low in pre-charged tank
Pump does not 1. Water level is lower than estimated
shut off 2. Pipes leak
3. Improper setting of pressure switch
Corrective Action
1. Add or release air as needed
2. Replace tank/refill air
3. Repair pipes connection or replace pipes
4. Repair or replace the foot valve
5. Closely look at the pressure gauge to see the pump On/Off points are around 30 psi/50
psi, if not, adjust or replace the pressure
switch
6. DISCONNECT POWER and open faucets
until all pressure is relieved. Using tire
pressure gauge, check air pressure in tank
at valve stem located on the tank. If less
than pressure switch cut-in setting (30 psi),
pump air into tank from outside source until
air pressure is 2 psi less than cut-in setting
of switch. Check air valve for leaks (use
soapy solution) and replace core if
necessary.

2.Locate and repair leak or reconnect
3. Reset or replace pressure switch
