The amount of pressure exerted on the tape from the pressure wheel is determined by
the tension of the measuring wheel spring. Too little pressure causes the tape to slip and
too much pressure causes the tape to tear. The pressure feeding of the tape may be
adjusted by moving the pressure wheel spring to another setting.
To adjust the pressure wheel, see Figure F and follow the steps below.
1. Remove the left cover plate by removing the three screws that hold it in place.
2. Move the pressure wheel spring with pliers or a cleaning hook. To apply maximum
pressure to the tape, move the spring to the lowest notch. For a medium amount of
pressure, choose the middle notch. For the minimum amount of pressure, select the
highest notch.
3. Replace the cover plate.
