DT.4536 Crankshaft Locking Tool
Check all timing marks align and install new belt around crankshaft gear.
Remove the front cover bolt and attach DT.4536 Crank Locking Tool to the engine, (using the DT.4536 securing bolt in the cover bolt hole) and to the cranks-
haft gear to 'lock' crankshaft position.
Release camshaft sprocket bolt - sprocket should be able to turn slightly.
Continue fi tting the timing belt in an anti-clockwise direction and tension belt.
Tighten camshaft sprocket bolt and remove all tools.
Turn engine slowly, by hand, and return to TDC position. Check all timing marks align.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT use Camshaft Setting Plate to hold camshafts in position whilst releasing or tightening the sprocket bolt. Use Sprocket Holding Tool - DT.CLE.

This FIAT 1.9 & 2.4 range of diesel engines require the following timing tools from DT.FIAT-D
DT.4543 Crankshaft Locking Tool
DT.4528 Flywheel Holding Tool (crank pulley removal)
DT.3054M6 Injection Pump Locking Bolts (Pair)
DT.4360M8 Injection Pump Locking Bolts (Pair)
DT.4360C2 Injection Pump Locking Pin.
On these engines the crank position is retained at TDC by fi tting DT.4543 Crankshaft Locking Tool.
Additionally it is necessary to 'lock' the fuel injection pump/sprocket using either DT.4360C2 Locking Pin, DT.3054M6 Locking Bolts or DT.4360M8 Locking
Bolts- Refer to Application Chart for details of models/engines.

The crankshaft pulley must be removed to replace the timing belt and the fl ywheel must be held securely by DT.4528 Holding Tool in order to release/tighten
the pulley bolt.

To fi t DT.4543, remove the crankshaft pulley and check the crank is a TDC - the dowel on the crankshaft gear is in the bottom position and central to the
cylinder block.
Remove the oil pump bolt and insert Support Spindle of DT.4543.
At this point the new belt must be fi tted to the crank gear. Fix DT.4543 with the crankshaft gear dowel correctly located into the hole in the Main Body of
DT.4543 and secure with bolt through to the crankshaft gear.

Insert Locking Pin or Locking Bolts in to the injection pump sprocket - see application chart for correct tool selection. Slacken sprocket bolts and fi t new timing
belt. Ensure timing marks on the belt align to timing marks on the sprockets.
Adjust tensioner to maximum and tighten pump sprocket bolts.
Remove all Locking Tools and re-fi t oil pump bolt.
Rotate engine twice, by hand, and return to TDC, checking all timing marks align.
Adjust tensioner to fi nal position with pointer aligned with reference point.
