Crank Set with Integrated Spindle
56
©2014 PACIFICCYCLE INC.
One of the more recent crank set innovations incorporates
the bottom bracket spindle with the drive-side crank arm.
This set up also utilizes a specific, corresponding bearing
assembly that actually locates the bearing outside of the
bottom bracket shell of the frame. The benefits of this type
of crank set are lighter weight, increased stiffness, and
greater durability. These crank sets will be found on higher
end, more performance oriented bike models.
NOTE: These crank sets require specialized tools and
knowledge for any adjustments. Please consult your
authorized dealer for regular service.
Inspection
The crank set should be checked for proper adjustment
every month. The crank arm bolts must be kept tight and
the bottom bracket must be properly adjusted. You should
also ensure that the chainring bolts are properly tightened
as well. It is important to ensure that all threaded parts are
thoroughly greased.
Please note that many aspects of the crankset
adjustments require special tools and training in
order to perform them properly. It is recommended
that you bring your bike in to your local bike shop
