– are used to compare machines.
– They are also used for making preliminary es-
timates regarding vibration and noise loads
during operation.
– They represent the primary applications of the
power tool.
Increase possible for other applications, with oth-
er insertion tools or if not maintained adequately.
Take note of idling and downtimes of machine!
3
Electrical connection and commissioning
The mains voltage must match the voltage on
the rating plate. Switch (1.2) serves as an On/Off
switch (I = On/0 = Off).
It may be latched with the locking knob on the
side (1.1) for continuous operation.
Pressing the switch again releases the lock.
4
Electronics
Do not operate the machine if the elec-
tronics are faulty as this can lead to the
machine operating at excessive speeds.
If the start-up is not smooth or speed adjustment
is not possible, this indicates that the electronics
are faulty.
The machine has full-wave electronics
with the following features:
4.1
Smooth start-up
Electronically-controlled smooth start-up en-
sures that the machine does not jerk when it is
started up.
4.2
Accelerator switch
Switch (1.2) serves as an accelerator switch. The
spindle speed increases as the pressure on the
switch increases. When the switch is pressed fully
down, the spindle speed set with the adjusting
wheel (1.7) is reached.
4.3
Setting the speed
The spindle speed can be set with the adjusting
wheel (1.7) when the switch (1.2) is pressed down
fully. The numbers on the adjusting wheel cor-
respond approximately with the following spindle
speeds:
1
800 rpm
2
1,120 rpm
3
1,440 rpm
4.4
Maintaining a constant speed
The pre-set spindle speed is kept constant elec-
tronically. This means that a constant polishing
speed is also achieved even when the machine

1,760 rpm
5
2,080 rpm
6
2,400 rpm

is under load.
4.5
Overload protection
The overload protection interrupts the power sup-
ply before the current consumption exceeds the
permissible value when the machine is extremely
overloaded.
The machine is immediately ready for operation
once it has been switched off.
4.6
Temperature protection
The temperature protection reduces the ma-
chine's current consumption before a too high
temperature is reached when the machine is
overloaded. Thereafter the machine may only be
operated at idling speed. This allows the machine
to be cooled down quickly by the motor fan. The
machine must be switched off briefl y after it has
cooled down before it is ready for operation once
more.
5
Tools
Use only tools which are approved for the
machine's maximum speed (2,400 rpm).
For your own safety, use only original Festool
tools.
5.1
Fitting the polishing pad
The polishing pads (1.4) are equipped with an M14
thread, and are screwed directly into the spindle
(1.5). The motor spindle can be locked by pressing
the spindle stop (1.6)
Actuate the spindle stop only when the drive
spindle is stationary. Do not switch on the
motor when the spindle stop is pressed in.
5.2
Attaching the polishing materials
The polishing materials (felt, sponge, sheepskin)
are simply pressed onto the polishing pad (1.4)
and held in place by the adhesive coating on the
polishing pad.
6
Operating notes
Do not overload the machine by pressing on it
too hard.
The best polishing results are achieved by working
with a moderate contact pressure.
The additional handle (1.3) can be optionally fi tted
on the right or left of the rotary polisher's trans-
mission head.
