- Before switching on, make sure that the disk cutter
is tightly secured and that the Allen key has been
removed.
- Whenever possible, secure the workpiece against
slipping, e.g. with screw clamps.
- Do not begin cutting the workpiece until the disk
cutter has reached full speed.
- Examine the workpiece for foreign objects. Do not
cut into metal parts, e.g. nails.
- When cutting always have the connecting cable
behind the machine.
- The wood dust arising during milling impairs the
necessary view and is partly injurious to health. If
the machine is used for longer periods, it must
therefore be connected to a chip extractor, e.g. a
portable small extractor, if the work is not carried
out outdoors or in a sufficiently ventilated room.
The air velocity must be at least 20 m/s (65.6
ft/sec.).
Instructions on service and maintenance:
- Regularly cleaning the machine, especially the
adjusting devices and guides, constitutes an
important safety factor.
- Only original MAFELL spare parts and accessories
may be used. Otherwise the manufacturer will not
accept any warranty claims and cannot be held
liable.

Setting / Adjustment
4.1 Mains connection
Prior to commissioning make sure that the mains
voltage complies with the operating voltage stated on
the machine's rating plate.
4.2 Chip extraction
Connect the machine to a suitable external dust
extractor during all work generating a considerable
amount of dust. The air velocity must be at least 20
m/s (65.6 ft / sec.).
For this, the hose connector 75 is clipped into support
8 (remove ejection pipe 74 ).
It is also possible to fit dust bag 76 onto the hose
connector.
In Germany, certified dust
extractors are required for the
extraction of wood dusts. Safe
compliance with air pollution limits
(2 mg/m
machine is connected to a tested
extraction unit (such as an
industrial vacuum cleaner or a
combination unit).
4.3 Cutting depth adjustment
The cutting depth can be set with setting wheel 38
according to the biscuit used.
4.4 Groove height adjustment
Unfasten the wing screw 21.
Set tiltable stop 20 according to the scale on the
column guide and tighten wing nut.
The revolving depth stop 14 has been set at the
factory for board thicknesses of 10, 19 and 25 mm
(3/8, 3/4 and 1 in.). In case of settings between 0°
and 90°, the groove height must be determined.
The cutter guard stop 77 has to be engaged except in
0° position (for inside wall joints).
4.5 Pivot adjustment
Unfasten the wing screw 22.
Set tiltable stop 20 according to the scale on the
column guide and tighten wing nut.
4.6 Tracing the groove distances
Groove distances are generally between 10 and 15
cm (3 15/16 - 5 7/8 in.). The centre of the first groove
should be 4 to 6 cm (1 9/16 - 2 3/8 in.) from the outer
edge of the workpiece. On narrow workpieces, the
grooves can be cut using the markings on the
support, the tilting stop or the base plate.

service work.
