STEP 4
Connecting a TV
Connect the video input jack of a TV to the
VIDEO OUT jack on the rear panel of the
system with the supplied video connecting
cable.
When using a TV
Turn on the TV and select the video input
so that you can view the pictures from this
system.
Note
For even higher quality video images, you
can use an optional S VIDEO cord to
connect the S VIDEO input jack on your TV
to the S VIDEO OUT jack on the rear panel
of the system.

Selecting the
Colour System (NTSC/PAL)
This system conforms to the NTSC and
PAL colour systems. Set SYSTEM SELECT
(colour system) on the rear of the system to
the appropriate position, according to your
TV.
SYSTEM SELECT was set to AUTO in
factory
• If your TV automatically changes the color
system according to the input signal:
The factory setting (AUTO) automatically
changes the colour system of video output
according to the colour system of the
VIDEO CD to be played. In this case, the
colour system selected remains until you
turn off the system, or you play another
VIDEO CD with a different color system.
If you turn off the system, the color
system will be set to NTSC automatically
when you turn on the system again.
• If the color system of your TV is NTSC:
Set SYSTEM SELECT to NTSC.
When you play a VIDEO CD recorded in
the PAL colour system, the picture will be
stretched vertically and will be displayed
with the upper and lower parts of the
picture cut off.
Chapter 1: Setting Up
• If the color system of your TV is PAL:
Set SYSTEM SELECT to PAL.
When you play a VIDEO CD recorded in
the NTSC color system, the picture will be
stretched horizontally and will be
displayed with the upper and lower parts
of the screen masked in black.
Be sure to turn the system off when
changing the setting of the SYSTEM
SELECT.

the local power line voltage.

Connect the mains lead to a wall outlet
after you have made all the above
connections.
Plug adaptor
If the plug of the unit does not fit into a
wall outlet, attach the supplied adaptor to
the plug.

Deactivating the
Demo mode
To deactivate the demo mode, press
DISPLAY/DEMO with the system power
turned off.
Note
When you turn on the system power for the
first time, the disc tray starts rotating. You
can operate the CD player after the disk
tray stops rotating and "CD NO DISC"
appears in the display.
