Transport, ambient conditions
The pump may only be carried using the grips pro-
vided for this purpose (hand pumps: locked hand
lever, foot pump: extra grips). Quick-fit couplings
and/or flexible hydraulic hoses must not be used
as a transport grip. If necessary, suitable lifting gear
must be used.
If the ambient conditions during transport differ sig-
nificantly from the ambient conditions specified for
its operation, usage of the hydraulic pump set must
be stopped immediately. The hydraulic pump must
be stored and operated under the ambient condi-
tions described. Unsuitable ambient conditions can
also endanger the health of the operating person-
nel. The pump must be protected against flame,
heat and weld spray.
Requisite ambient conditions:

no aggressive chemicals in the environment

Storage
All connectors must be provided with suitable end
caps. If the hydraulic pump is placed in storage
with a full oil tank, storage must be carried out at a
safe distance from sources of heat and substances
capable of oxidation. The storage facility must be
adequately ventilated and the temperature must be
between +5 °C and +30 °C.
If the foot pump is not used for more than 60 days,
it should be run without load for several minutes. In
case of non-compliance, this can lead to damage,
since the balls inside the pump may stick together.
Pneumatic connector
The foot pump PUMP1000-5L-AIR is driven by com-
pressed air. The necessary preconditions for the
compressed air connection as as follows:

In order to prevent damage, the pneumatic connec-
tor must be screwed in carefully. For some applica-
tions, precise setting of the start pressure is neces-
sary. For this purpose, a throttle option must be
provided in the air supply for the compressed
air-driven foot pump.
Operating pressure
The hydraulic pump must not be operated at a pres-
sure greater than the maximum permissible operat-

data u36. The maximum permissible pressure of
the hydraulic pump, hydraulic hose or the connect-
ed consumer device must not be exceeded under
any circumstances. Hazard due to rupture.
During operation, the manometer must be continu-
ally monitored.
Normal operation
Check before the mounting operation whether the
hydraulic hose is correctly connected. Use hose fas-
teners to prevent whipping of the hydraulic hose
under pressure.
While the hydraulic pump is in operation, hydraulic
oil must not be added under any circumstances.
Components such as the escape valve could be un-
intentionally moved when the pump moves. Hazard
due to escape of hydraulic oil under high pressure.
This can cause serious injuries.
Hydraulic oil should only be added if the pump is
unpressurised.
Maintenance, troubleshooting and rectification
Regular maintenance must be carried out on the hy-
draulic pump u86. Schaeffler strongly advises that
only original replacement parts and accessories au-
thorised by Schaeffler should be used u92.
Maintenance work, troubleshooting and rectifica-
tion may only be carried out by qualified profes-
sionals and in compliance with accident prevention
regulations. Personal protective equipment must be
used in this case.
Send the hydraulic pump for repair to Schaeffler or
a skilled repair company – companies certified by
Schaeffler are recommended.
Disposal
Hydraulic oil or oil-soaked materials must be dis-
posed of by environmentally acceptable methods.
Conversion
For reasons of safety, the hydraulic pump must not
be converted. Do not change the settings of the
safety valves.
Hydraulic hose
Serious injuries are possible due to the spraying of
hydraulic oil as a result of an unsuitable, damaged
or old hydraulic hose. Risk of rupture, since the hy-
draulic hose may become brittle if the permissible
storage and usage time is exceeded.
Please use original hydraulic hoses only. The hy-
draulic hose must be kept away from fire, corrosive
materials, sharp edges, abrasive surfaces and ex-
treme temperatures. It must never be marked, since
this can also cause damage. The hydraulic hose
must never be subjected to external forces, kinked
or rotated. The hoses for the pumps PUMP700-2L,
