M AINTENANCE AND INSPECTION
WARNING:
1. Inspecting the diam ond w heel
Since use of a dull diam ond w heel w ill cause m otor m alfunctioning and degraded
efficiently, replace w ith a new one w ithout delay w hen abrasion is noted.
2. Inspecting the screw s
Regularly inspect all screw s and ensure that they are fully tightened. Should any of the
screw s be loosened, retighten them im m ediately.

The m otor unit w inding is the very " heart"
of the pow er tool. Exercise due care to
en su r e t h e w i n d i n g d o es n o t b eco m e
dam aged and/or w et w ith oil or w ater.
4. Inspecting the carbon brushes (Fig. 6)
The m otor em ploys carbon brushes w hich
are consum able parts. Replace the carbon
brush w ith a new one w hen it becom es
w orn to its w ear lim it. Alw ays keep carbon
brushes clean and ensure that they slide
freely w ithin the brush holders.
CAUTION:
Using this grinder w ith a carbon brush w hich is w orn in excess of the w ear limit w ill
damage the motor.
NOTE: Use HITACHI carbon brush No. 43 indicated in Fig. 6.
Replacing carbon brushes:
Loosen the set screw and rem ove the tail cover. Rem ove the brush caps and carbon
brushes. After replacing the carbon brushes, do not forget to tighten the brush caps
securely and to install the tail cover.
5. Service and repairs
All quality pow er tools w ill eventually require servicing or replacem ent of parts because
of w ear from norm al use. To assure that only authorized replacem ent parts w ill be
used, all service and repairs m ust be perform ed by a HITACHI AUTHORIZED SERVICE
CENTER, ONLY.
Be sure to switch power OFF and disconnect the plug from the receptacle
during maintenance and inspection.
Using cracked, deformed or damaged w heels can lead to w heel
breakage and resulting serious injury.
Using this cutter w ith loosened screw s is extremely dangerous.
