FA 60 203 01
Dismantle the manual crimping piece and insert the rear part on the cable.
Next, mark the length of the brass piece on the cable and use sellotape
to prevent said cable from opening more than necessary during cable
unstranding. When using a 7x7 or 7x19 construction cable, only insert the
central core of the cable in the slot, and fold all strands. Note:the strands
must not stick out of the brass piece; ideally they should stop by the edge.
Next, reassemble the manual crimping piece. It is advisable to use thread
lock on the threaded part to secure crimping.
Unscrew both ends of the tensioner. Take care not to exceed the maximum
permitted opening distance (508 mm) of the tensioner by distributing the
length equally between the ends of the tensioner body; this equates to
approximately 50 mm of visible thread either side of the tensioner body
(distance X). Fit the FA 60 203 01 tensioner to the FA 60 202 00 absorber
using the shackle. Make sure the shackle tightening screw head faces
upwards. Apply some thread lock. Insert the split pin and lock it.
FA 60 203 02
Insert the sleeved end of the cable in the clevis of the FA 60 203 02
tensioner. Unscrew both ends of the tensioner. Take care not to exceed
the maximum permitted opening distance (508 mm) of the tensioner by
distributing the length equally between the ends of the tensioner body;
this equates to approximately 50 mm of visible thread either side of the
tensioner body (distance X). Fit the FA 60 203 02 tensioner to the FA 60
202 00 absorber using the shackle. Make sure the shackle tightening screw
head faces upwards. Apply some thread lock. Insert the split pin and lock it.
Next, pass the cable through all of the intermediate components.
FA 60 205 00
Once you have adjusted its length, introduce the cable into the FA 60 205
00 tensioner crimped clevis. At least 100 mm of cable must be fed into the
tube. Mark the cable to check the length introduced into the tube. If the
length measured is the minimum length required, reintroduce the cable into
the tube. Using the crimping tool, start crimping at point 1 by positioning
the crimper jaws in the centre of the crimp markers on the crimped clevis.
Continue crimping in the direction indicated on the drawing until you have
finished crimp No. 6. Rotate the crimping tube by 45° between crimps to
prevent it from becoming deformed over its length. Refer to the crimping
machine user instructions before commencing. When you have finished
crimping, apply coloured lacquer to the cable and tube which will act as an
indicator in case the cable slips inside the tube.
Particular care must be taken when carrying out this operation as it cannot
be reversed and it is central to the strength of the system and the safety
of its users.
