Remove the battery pack before starting any adjustment,
cleaning and maintenance work on the device.
Do not dispose of used battery packs in the household refuse
or by burning them. Milwaukee Distributors off er to retrieve old
batteries to protect our environment.
Do not store the battery pack together with metal objects (short
circuit risk).
Use only System M18 chargers for charging System M18 battery
packs. Do not use battery packs from other systems.
Never break open battery packs and chargers and store only in
dry rooms. Keep dry at all times.
Battery acid may leak from damaged batteries under extreme
load or extreme temperatures. In case of contact with battery
acid wash it off immediately with soap and water. In case of eye
contact rinse thoroughly for at least 10 minutes and immediately
seek medical attention.
Warning! To reduce the risk of fi re, personal injury, and product
damage due to a short circuit, never immerse your tool, battery
pack or charger in fl uid or allow a fl uid to fl ow inside them.
Corrosive or conductive fl uids, such as seawater, certain
industrial chemicals, and bleach or bleach containing products,
etc., can cause a short circuit.
SPECIFIED CONDITIONS OF USE
The shear bolt is exclusively designed to make electrical
connections using bolted connectors. It may only be used to
tighten screws, which are designed to shear off once the desired
tightening torque is reached and will shear off below 100 Nm.
The Tool is NOT suitable to work on live parts.
Do not use this product in any other way as stated for normal
use.
RESIDUAL RISK
Even when the product is used as prescribed, it is still impossible
to completely eliminate certain residual risk factors. The following
hazards may arise in use and the operator should pay special
attention to avoid the following:
• Injury caused by vibration.
Hold the product by designated handles and restrict working
time and exposure.
• Exposure to noise can cause hearing injury.
Wear ear protection and limit exposure.
• Injury due to fl ying debris
Wear eye protection, heavy long trousers, gloves and
substantial footwear at all times.
• Inhalation of toxic dusts.
SET-UP OF THE WORKING AREA
Before work begins, the cables must be disconnected and it
must be ensured that they remain isolated from the power supply
for the duration of the work.
If it cannot be ensured beyond doubt that the cable has been
disconnected, no work may be carried out.
It is crucial that local safety provisions and the regulations are
observed.
Do not expose tools to rain. Do not use tools in damp or wet
locations.
OPERATION
WARNING: To reduce the risk of explosions, electric shock
and damage to property and equipment, never cut live
electrical cables.
Device is NOT insulated. Contact with a live circuit could
result in severe injury or death. Turn off power before
making a connection.
Always remove battery pack before changing or
removing accessories. Only use accessories specifi cally
recommended for this device. Others may be hazardous.
To reduce the risk of injury, wear safety goggles or glasses
with side shields.
Always follow the assembly instructions of the connector
manufacturer.
Consult the documents provided by the manufacturer for
handling and assembly instructions for connectors.
Only when the screw has sheared off the required tightening
torque and thus the necessary contact force is guaranteed.
If the screw is not sheared off , the battery capacity may not be
suffi cient. In this case, charge the battery.
It is the user's responsibility to check and evaluate that the
connection is correct.
Incorrect connections must be cut off and replaced with new
connectors.
All screws of the connector must always be screwed in.
Only use the sockets supplied within the Toolkit.
It's recommended to use the retaining bolts, when working on
connectors, that have all screws aligned in a single row. For all
others, the attachment forks should be used. Select the fork
based on the outer diameter of the connector.
Always adjust the distance between the bolts to the size of the
used connector, when working without the attachment forks.
The bolts are adjusted correctly, when they are in the smallest,
symmetrical position, that still fi ts over the connector.
The bolts and fork attachments are designed to contact the
connector body. During application, avoid contact with any other
component to avoid negative eff ects on the connection.
Always use the socket and fork combination as described in this
manual.
NOTES FOR LI-ION BATTERIES
Use of Li-Ion batteries
Batteries which have not been used for some time should be
recharged before use.
Temperatures in excess of 50°C (122°F) reduce the performance
of the battery. Avoid extended exposure to heat or sunshine (risk
of overheating).
The contacts of chargers and batteries must be kept clean.
For an optimum life-time, the batteries have to be fully charged,
after used.
To obtain the longest possible battery life remove the battery
from the charger once it is fully charged.
For battery storage longer than 30 days:
Store the battery where the temperature is below 27°C and away
from moisture
Store the battery in a 30% - 50% charged condition
Every six months of storage, charge the battery as normal.
Battery protection for Li-Ion batteries
In extremely high torque, binding, stalling and short circuit
situations that cause high current draw, the tool will vibrate for
about 5 seconds, the fuel gauge will fl ash,and then the tool will
turn OFF. To reset, release the trigger.
